Help with Straight Talk and Net10 MMS Picture Messages

Every day I get about a dozen or so request from Straight Talk and Net10 customers asking for help with getting their MMS picture and group text messages working. I noticed I am repeating myself in the comments so I set up this help page.

Make sure your data connection is working before trying to set up MMS. If you aren’t getting data, getting MMS to work is unlikely. See the next answer to find out how to get dat working.

Set up Your Data and MMS APN
Set up your smartphone’s MMS APN settings if you haven’t done so. Check the Guides  to see if their is a guide for your phone. If not, check here How to Setup Straight Talk Data and MMS for your Android or other Smartphone.

Test Both Sending & Receiving MMS
Make sure to test MMS in both directions, it helps to know if MMS is partially working.

Call Straight Talk / Net10 Support
Tell them your MMS isn’t working. Ask them to reset or reprovison your account. Tell them MMS is working for your friends using the service. Keep asking, can’t you just reset my account. This approach has worked for some. Others just are told it won’t work.
Escalate Your Support To the Tracfone
Straight Talk, Net10, and Tracefone are owned by the same company. Some readers have reported escalating the issue to the Executive Resolutions Group at tracfone solved the problem. Do a google search for the phone number.

Try different APN settings.
Many people fix their MMS problems by trying different combinations of APN settings. Specifically the MMSC and MMS Proxy values. If your phone supports using a different APN for data and MMS you can try using one or the other APNs for MMS.

Reset Your Phone
Sometimes powering you phone off and on fixes the problem. Resetting settings can also help. Restoring your phone to factory settings. Alway back up your phone first though
