I Installed Straight Talk and Net10’s Carrier Update TFW 15.7 and My Data and MMS Work!

UPDATE:

Don’t install the carrier update: Some iPhone 4 and 4s users are reporting real problems. Speeds slower than 3G. I’m not seeing it on my iPhone 5. Most of the time I have an LTE connection.

A reader, Deb, just informed me that there was a new Carrier Update available for iPhone users with iOS 7.0.x. She wanted to know if it is safe to install, would it break anything.

I installed it on my iPhone 5. I tested SMS, Data, and MMS. I could both send and receive MMS. I didn’t need to SIM swap or install any APN profiles. I didn’t make any voice calls. I am not sure what it fixes or improves though. I’ll update this if I experience any problems.

Should you install it? Well, that is up to you.
Did you install it or are you going to wait?
If so, is it working or did you have a problem?

UPDATE 5 Dec 2013
I noticed today that my iPhone 5 network speed indicator is toggling between LTE and 3G. When I get a call the display switches to 3G. With 15.6, it would switch between LTE and 4G. I am not concerned about this right now. The carrier profile can control what is network speed is displayed. ATT used to display 3G for HSPA+ and changed it to 4G before the iPhone 5. yhey wanted to market the iPhone 4s as 4G even though it didnt have LTE. I’ll wait to see if this really results in slower data speeds.
