Life after Verizon Wireless Postpaid

A reader, Wendy, asks…

Hi Bob,
I thank you a million times over! To be honest, I wasn’t sure if you would even respond! : ) Thank you for answering my questions. Yes, more than likely I will leave ST at the end of my month.

I have another question: (sorry)
I only transferred my iPhone 7plus to ST, but left my dad’s flip phone on Verizon (post pay.). He rarely uses it. Verizon now has given me a 700 min talk plan, but the cost is still outrageous.

Am I able to transfer 2 Verizon cell phones to T Mobile? (Of course you are not that company) but I am confused about various cell phones working with various carriers.

My gut tells me to take both phones to Verizon pre pay, but I need to save more money. I need high data, and but my dad no.. I pay for my dad’s service. Is it better to keep the phones combined, or have separate plans?

Thank you again!!! ( I am in the LA area)
Wendy

Hi Wendy,
You have a lot of options to consider for both you and your Dad. First, your iPhone 7 Plus is unlocked and compatible with all four major networks in the US so you should be able to use your iPhone with any wireless service. Since your Dad is using a basic flip phone, I’d say first find the service that is right for him. If the phone is compatible, great, if not you may be able to replace it for free. If not a new phone shouldn’t cost too much and the money you save could easily recoup the cost.

For your Dad, you might consider Verizon Wireless Prepaid, Total Wireless, Safelink, Tracfone, FreedomPop or TextNow. I have many articles and videos on smartphonematters.com you can check out.

For yourself, consider Total Wireless or Verizon Prepaid. If the t-mobile network works well in LA consider T-Mobile One or MetroPCS. If you have any more questions, leave a reply below.
