I have an Iphone 4 and I’m trying to use the compatible straight talk SIM card. I have tried to use all three of your downloads and none of them worked.

  7. Ann Marie says:

None of them worked for me actually

    • Bob Thompson says:

Which Straight Talk SIM are you using? Which model iPhone 5. The model number is on the back of the phone.

      • Ann Marie says:

I have the 64gb iPhone 5 that’s running on I.os7 and the model number on the back says A1429

        • Bob Thompson says:

          Hi,
This is a Verizon model iPhone 5. If you bought this iPhone from Straight Talk, it’s using their Verizon network and these profiles will not help you. Or, did you being this phone from Verizon to Straight Talk? Are you using a SIM card?
          Regards
          Bob

          • Ann Marie says:

Nope, I bought it on straight talk. Will I have to contact straight talk personally with my problem?

  8. Ann Marie says:

Are all 3 supposed to download or just one? Because only one will download to my iPhone 5 and I still can’t get my internet to work without wifi. HELP

  9. Michelle says:

I have an GSM AT&T unlocked iPhone 5s that I bought from Apple and use thru straight talk .. All worked at first mms, text n data .. Everything works fine when I’m at home but when I leave home my data is not connecting .. How do I fix that, my status bar on top says TFW , but when I leave my house it goes to TFW 3G but won’t connect for use of data ????? Any Info would be great

  10. Anthony B. says:

I have a iPhone 4S. Att SIM card.
My talk works. My text work. But, my data is what I have a problem with. I installed the second profile and my data works, however my signal is showing “TFW 3G”. When I was with AT&T I had 4G coverage. I haven’t moved from my location. I was wondering how I can get back my 4G coverage?!
    Please help!!!

  11. Julie says:

THANK YOU!!! Worked perfectly and now my iPhone 5 does too!!

  12. Kayla says:

I bought a 5c from straight talk and I only have 3G. I’ve tried these apns and nothing is working. What do you suggest I try next?

    • Bob Thompson says:

      Hi Kayla,
Your APN does not determine if you get 3G, 4G, or LTE service. Installing the profiles on this page won’t help, and in fact might be able prevent your data from working at all.

The next step is to figure out if your phone is using Straight Talk’s AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, or Sprint network. Do you know?
Do you know if you are using a Straight Talk SIM in your phone? Did you need to dial a phone number to activate this phone? Is so what was it?
      Regards
      Bob

  13. Amanda says:

None of the apns worked for me. Please help me

  14. Ron A. says:

Thank you Bob for sharing your fine expertise and experience. My problem was data alone wasn’t working. Tried the tfdata profile and it solved the problem. That was after hours on line with StraightTalk Tech support and Apple they sent me to. He told me about the unlockit.co.nz site. Thought I might find another solution that doesn’t cost. Very generous of you to spend the time to help workout solutions and respond to our posts.

    • Bob Thompson says:

      Hi Ron,
Thank you for taking the time to comment. Straight Talk is a great way to save a lot of money on your cell phone bill. Hopefully over time the support experience between the two companies will improve. Glad to see you found smartphonematters.com and got your data working.
      Regards
      Bob

I downloaded the http://iapnupdateatt.straighttalk.com/. It worked great for a week and then it just stopped working. I deleted it and tried again. Turn the phone on and off again to try and reset it and it still doesn’t work. Any suggestions?

  17. Brooke Horsley says:

Do you know why I wouldn’t be able to text others who don’t have an iPhone? I have an iPhone 4S and I installed one of those APN profiles from straight talk and my data works fine. Other non iPhone users can message me but I can’t them. Any suggestions

  18. Brooke Horsley says:

I’ve tried all of the APN links and when I go back to check and see if it works with each one, the tf profile works with data usage. My mms, I can’t get to work and also I can’t even message anyone that doesn’t have a iPhone. I have a iPhone 4S and in the corner it shows TFW 3G. I don’t have another SIM card to switch out like u suggested. Any other suggestions

  19. Funhog says:

MMS on my 4S stopped working after the 7.0.4 update. I couldn’t get it working with the sim swap which had always worked for me before. After much frustration I read a comment here that recommended installing a Net10 APN from unlockit.co.nz I decided to give it a try. The Net10 att.mvno setting worked like a charm!

  20. Brandy Pitts says:

Iphone 4, iOS 7.03, Straight Talk “TFW” – cellular data stopped working, MMS and groups messaging never worked. Just installed a new APN (Straight Talk New) and all is working. Thanks!!

  23. Quinton says:

    Starting to lose hope..

I have a GSM unlocked iPhone 4s and am using the ATT ST Micro-sim for it. Calling/texting works fine, however the data isn’t working. I don’t really care about MMS all that much, but having no data kills me.

I’ve tried all three seperate APN’s, Manual APNs, SIM Switching, hard resets.. everything. The straight talk rep basically told me to keep trying the default APN profile, and if it didn’t work, uninstall it and try again. I’ve been at this for 4 and a half hours and it’s really beginning to bug me. Can anyone help?

    • Bob Thompson says:

      Quinton,
Are you a new customer, or existing customer and your data stopped working? When you test your data connection do you see HOME or TFW in your status bar? Do you see 3G or 4G?

      Regards
      Bob

    • Bob Thompson says:

      Hi,
You mentioned you have a Verizon iPhone 4S. Did you buy this phone from straight talk or are you trying to use it with a straight talk sim? Did you have this phone working with ios6 on straight talk? With or without the sim?
      Regards,
      Bob

    Hello,
I have a 4s unlocked and have been using the SIM card I received from straight talk about a year and a half ago (or maybe 2) . Now, data stopped working. I have used your guide… I have an iPhone 4S unlocked… It was att now straight talk… When I swapped to 6.0 your guide worked great… Now with 7.0 I have data but no mms!!! I have used all the profiles and still can’t get it to work… Can you help?!?!

    • Bob Thompson says:

      Hi lee,
You will not get mms to work by installing one of these profiles. They only work for data. Pics to other iphone users will work via iMessage with a profile. You need to do sim swap to get mms. With the new TFW 15.6 carrier update some users will get data and mms automatically.

      Regards
      Bob

  30. Outlaw says:

I purchased a unlocked iphone 5c from apple and cut down the sim to a nano sim and with the profiles given above it works all but the mms I also purchased a att iphone 5s from apple and it works as well all but the mms how do I fix this?

  31. Tina says:

I tried all three but no luck. Will do round two when I receive the sim cards just to be sure. I purchased a straight talk iPhone 5 from walmart.com (it runs on Verizon) so it did not come with an sim card but I have purchased both a straight talk & T-mobile sim from ebay after seeing a few videos on youtube. I thought if I bought a new phone instead of using my existing one; it would come already set up but HOW WRONG I WAS

    • Bob Thompson says:

      Hi Tina,
If you purchased an iPhone 5 from Straight Talk you do not need to use a SIM card. You should just be able to activate it by dialing *22890. I don’t know what you paid for this iPhone from Straight Talk but I think you would be getting a far better deal buying an unlocked iPhone 5c or iPhone 5s for the money. I am haven’t checked recently, but last time I looked Straight Talk’s iPhone only used the Verizon 3G network, not their awesome 4G LTE network.

I admit I am not sure I understand your situation.
I know you asked about my guide
I think you have an iPhone already, which model?
Did you buy a Straight Talk SIM for that iPhone already, and activate it?
If yes, do you know if it is the Straight Talk ATT or Straight Talk T-Mobile SIM (did it come on a blue or pink card)

Let me know, I can probably help you out here.
      Regards,
      Bob

      • Tina says:

See the below link for the phone I purchased. It’s an iPhone

        http://www.walmart.com/ip/Straight-Talk-Apple-iPhone-5-64GB-with-Bonus-45-Unlimited-Plan-White/27251338

It’s activated and the text and calls work but no data or picture messages. So that’s my issue and It did not come with a sim.

        • Bob Thompson says:

          Hi Tina,
In my opinion, you would be better off returning this iPhone and spending that type of money for a new iPhone 5C or iPhone 5s. You would get a newer phone, and faster data service using a SIM card.

If you want to use this iPhone 5 from Straight Talk, you don’t need a SIM. Try the following.

To activate your service, go to straighttalk.com/Activate or call 1-877-877-1986 from another phone. You will need the MEID Number (also known as the Serial Number) which is located on the red Activation Card and on the bottom of the iPhone box in the IMEI/MEID field. You will also need a Straight Talk Unlimited¹ Service Plan, which you can purchase at participating Walmart stores or with a credit card as part of the Activation process.

After completing the Activation, you will need secure Wi-Fi access OR a computer (requires PC or Mac) with the latest version of iTunes and an internet connection. To begin, simply turn your iPhone on, follow the prompts, and then choose a method to set up your iPhone:

          • Using Wi-Fi: Simply select “Use Wi-Fi” then follow the on-screen prompts. When you receive the “Carrier Settings Update” pop-up, make sure to select “Update”; the phone will return to the main screen as the update runs in the background. This process can take up to a few minutes, depending on the speed of your Wi-Fi connection. Note: No SIM card is required for your iPhone, so disregard any messages asking for one.

          • Using iTunes via a computer: Simply open the latest version of iTunes on your Mac or PC computer, then connect your iPhone to it using the USB cable that came in your package. Once you read and agree to the License Agreement, sync your iPhone with iTunes. You will receive a pop-up asking if you would like to download an update for your carrier settings—select “Download and Update.” Note: If you receive an alert saying there is no SIM card installed in the iPhone—simply ignore and select continue. No SIM card is required for your iPhone.

** After completing the setup, you MUST call *22890 from your iPhone to program it.

          6. How do I know if my iPhone was activated successfully?
After successful completion of the update, your screen will display “iPhone is activated”; you can tap Dismiss. Also, the upper left corner of your screen will no longer display “No Service” and will then display signal strength bars and the letters “TFW.”

Let me know how it goes.
          Regards
          Bob

          • Tina says:

            Hello Bob,
Thanks for taking the time out to reply. All of the activation steps was followed during setup and I have spent 3 hours on the phone with them which they say everything in their system was correct.

I am not sure if you know something that I don’t know but currently no one can buy an unlocked iPhone 5s not even on apple.com. Trust I tried haha…. It’s allows for the unlocked 5c but I am not sure I like the plastic and the 64GB is not available for the 5c. I wanted the 64GB because I don’t plan to purchase another phone for a long time lol… so that was my reason for choosing the iPhone 5, it’s still an upgrade from the 4s I had

  32. Tina says:

what are my options if neither works :(
