Buying iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro For Use With Prepaid Wireless

This article is about buying an iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro for use with prepaid wireless service. Apple released iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro on September 12th, 2021. Every September when new iPhones come out I always hear from people who want to buy one for use with prepaid wireless.

In 2021, buying iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro is easier than it has ever been if you want to use iPhone with a prepaid wireless service.

To use iPhone 13 with prepaid you can buy the phone directly from Apple and then sign up for your prepaid wireless service ort transfer your existing service using your prepaid’s Bring Your Own Phone plan. This usually just requires you to order a SIM card from your prepaid wireless service.

Buying iPhone 13 from Apple

To buy the iPhone 13, simply visit apple.com and choose the iPhone 13 you are interested in. Your choices are:

  • iPhone 13 mini
  • iPhone 13
  • iPhone 13 Pro
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max

.
All four of these models can be used with prepaid, so pick the phone that meets your needs.

For this article, I choose the iPhone 13 mini, the least expensive model. Hit the Buy button and make the follwoing choices.

Choose Your Model

Choose either iPhone 13 Mini or iPhone 13 for the regular model or iPhone 13 Pro or iPhone 13 Pro Max for the pro models.

Choose Your Finish

The finish is the color you want. The iPhone 13 is available in Pink, Blue, Midnight, Starlight, or PRODUCT RED.

Choosse Your Capacity

The capicity is the amount of internal storage the phone has. For iPhone 13 there are three choices: 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB.

Connect to a carrier now

Next your need to choose your carrier. Apple offers five options. The first four options are AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint. There are the four major US carriers.

However you want to choose the fifth options. Connect on your own later. This is because you’ll be usingthe phone with your prepaid wireless carrier. Apple doesn’t offer an option to activate iPhone 13 with prepaid wireless service.

Do you have a smartphone to trade in with Apple?

Next you’ll have the option to trade-in your old phone. If you are interested in this option, check out the list to see what they are willing to offer for your old phone. Apple trade in is a pretty good experience, I’ve used it in the past.

Chose a Payment Option

Next, you’ll need to choose how to pay for the phone. Your options are to pay with monhly installments using Apple Card or a one time payment in full.

The one time payment option is prerry straight forward. That iPhone 13 mini I selected would cost $729 plus tax. If you have Apple card, you’ll get 3% cashback on your purchase.

If you have Apple Card, you’ll have the option to pay monthly over 24 months. For the base iPhone 13 mini I selected that would be 30.37 per mo. You’ll get 3% cash back on the phone and pay 0% APR.

This payment option is great as you won’t have to pay any additional money to finace the iPhone but you do need to have Apple Card or apply for one and get approved.

Delivery or Store Pickup

Apple with ship iPhone 13 to you for free or ytou’ll have the option to pick the phone up at an Apple store if it is in stock that day or sometimes the next. Apple is currently not offering ship to store or pickup times beyond “tomorrow”.

Once you receive your iPhone 13, follow your prepaid wireless carrier’s instructions to activate it. Remember if for some reason you run into a problem, you’ll have 14 days to return the phone to Apple for a refund.

Thats pretty much it. Below are some additional details.

All iPhone models sold by Apple are unlocked except for the ones sold on AT&T installment plans. Only AT&T customers can choose that installment plan anyway.

If you try to buy iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 pro and choose AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint as an option you’ll be required to provide your phone number and the las four digits of your SSN so you wouldn’t be able complete your purchase unless you are a current customer.

The iPhone 13 mini model number is A2481. The iPhone 13 model number is A2482. The iPhone 13 Pro model number is A2483. The iPhone 13 Pro Max model number is A2484. All these models are compatible with all US wireless networks.

In prevoius years sometimes each iPhone model had two different model numbers. One that was compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile and the other that was compatible with Verizon and Sprint as well as AT&T and T-Mobile.

If your looking to buy iPhone 13 in thee US for use in another country I’ll have a seperate article and vide for that. That article is not really yet. When it is I’ll add the link here.
