Recently I told you about the new Tracfone Bring Your Own Smartphone SIM Kits. These new kits contain SIMs for Tracefone’s AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile networks, so they have now added the T-Mobile SIM into the $1 SIM kit. It also looks like these new SIMs can only be activated with a tracfone smartphone only plan and not the older triple talk, text, and data plans. For more details about that see my previous YouTube video.
One thing I notices when I was reviewing the new SIM kit is that one section of the kit says if you have a used or unlocked Sprint LTE phone you can activate skip the step of putting a SIM in the phone and proceed to activate it on tracfone.com.
I have never heard of tracfone supporting the Sprint network. The front of the package says it works with America Top Three 4G LTE networks, which would be Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. I know that other Tracfone brands, Straight Talk and Net10 can use the Sprint network. With those services, if you have a Sprint LTE phone, you use the Sprint SIM that is already in your phone, or should be if you are bringing a phone from Sprint. While Straight Talk sells SIM cards to use with their AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile networks they don’t offer Sprint SIM cards.
So I am wondering if Tracfone, like Straight Talk, also offers service on the Sprint network. At least it that’s what it looks like to me when I look at the new kit. To further confuse this, when I go to tracfone.com and walk through the steps to activate a Sprint phone, it tells me it’s not possible.
What about you? Are you using Tracfone’s Sprint network, or are you trying to find out more information about it? Leave a reply below and share..
Yea buddy thats what um trying to do to. I got a Unlocked sprint lg flex2 and i want to add my active tracfone account. Can it be done?
I don’t know. If it’s the LS996 and it is unlocked it is partially compatible with Tracfone’s ATT or T-Mobile SIM cards. This means you may inot get the best service in some areas. See https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/YnJeiWL/lg-ls996-g-flex2-td-lte-lg-z2/united-states
I never tried to activate a phone with Tracfone on the Sprint network. I just checked here and in 2019 it says you can’t activate a phone on the Sprint network as BYOP https://www.tracfone.com/activation/coveragecheck. I never figured out why that was in the SIM kit. Don’t know if the latest kits show that still.
Looks like that phone shipped with Android 5.0, if it hasn’t received security updates in years you may want to reconsider using this phone.
