I have a BLU Neo 4.5 & am having problems sending/receiving MMS messages.

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Cameron,
Did you follow the instructions in the article?

I have A Blu Star Jr and i have the Att sim card in it. I tried everything your website asked me to do but i still have no data enabled! Please if you can help in any way i would be greatful. Thank you

    • Bob Thompson | |

Which APN settings did you try? You are using Straight talk att right? Do you know if the att network works in your area?

  3. nana osei | |

My network always go.off when I.switch to 3g or wcdma on my blu neo 4.5

    • Bob Thompson | |

Hi, I am not sure I understand what yoo are asking.

  4. nana gyan | |

how can I gt 3G on my blu advance 4.0

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Nana,
Do you mean that you are getting cellular data, but not 3G cellular data or do you mean your cellular data in not working?
      Regards
      Bob

  5. Paula | |

I have a BLU Win Jr, I am receiving the internet but can’t make a phone call or send text.

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Paula,
I am not sure what is causing that problem.
The APN is only for setting up cellular data, MMS picture messages, and group texts. If you can’t make voice calls or send text messages sometings else it wrong. since your using a BLU phone, you must be using either Straight Talk’s ATT or TMobile network. Do you know which one? And if that network works well in your area.

You can try borrowing a SIM from a friends phone any see if you can make phone calls. You can also try putting your SIM in a friend’s phone and see if you can make phone calls. This will give you an idea if the problem is the phone or the SIM, both, or the combination of the two.

Hello i have a blu studio 7.0 phone and my internet doesnt work please help me? i have tried all internet solutions possible please help

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Jessica,
Are you using Straight Talk? Did you use the link in this article to look up your APN? What is it?
From the APN Settings page, try doing a Reset to Default, then edit and delete any APNs present. Follow the instructions and set up the APN again.

  7. stephanie | |

I have a blue studio 5.5. I use to be able to send picture mail but since my last phone update I can’t. I can receive picture mail still but can’t send. Please help with a new APN that will help. I’m using straight talk at&t byop.

      • stephanie | |

Before I do this it says for android 4.1.2 but since my update it now has 4.2.1. Will this still work?

        • Mike | |

Android version should not have much to do with APN settings.
You can have more than one set up for APN, when you get it working… have that one be the default. Make sure you name your APN settings.

  8. geohvision | |

i need the apn settings to blu dash 4.5 (t-moblie)

  9. NikkiE | |

I have a BLU Tank 4.5 on straight talk with an At&t Sim under BYOP. My pho e has been activated for over 2 months. I am unable to send or receive MMS! I’ve tried everything even the things you’ve told other people. Help please!

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Nikki E,
Did you try doing a Reset to Defaults, deleting all the APNs, and then creating a new one and entering your values? You can send me screenshots of your APN settings and I will take a look at them.
Taking a Screenshot on an Android Phone

    • Mike Ryan | |

As I mentioned before… I have a Blu Tank 4.5 that did the same thing as many on here. No MMS after BYOP deal with Straight Talk.

I did finally talk to a Tech at Straight Talk that told me of a setting for APN that has worked with dozens of people I know, that have these phones.

Try APN: tfdata mms (The space is in there,
We are not writing code here… just filling in the info.)

(Bob, you need to add this to your instructions, so people will find this, and get their phone working right away)

You should create a new APN, and be sure when you save it,
that it is the one selected to be the main APN default setting. You do not need to remove/delete any other APN settings if a used phone.
The APN you save as the default, is the one used. I have 3 other ones on mine, and no problems.

      My settings are:

      APN: tfdata mms
      MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
      MMS proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
      MMS Port: 80

Any other settings needed Bob has listed…

      Hope this helps.

      • Bob Thompson | |

        Hi Mike,
I plan to. I have been suggesting it to some people, and I want from a few more people that it works. I think there was one other BLU user that commented it worked but not for any other android phone. I had one reader, that pasted the list of all the APN settings from the first page of the article into his phones and said it worked.Still can’t figure that one out.

I really appreciate that you have on many occasions come back to the site to help other people. Thank you. In fact, when I replied to NikkiE, I was going to recommend this but decided to make it suggest it after she took one more try.

        Regards
        Bob

  10. Kellyn | |

    Hi Bob,

First of all thank you SO much for helping. I’ve had Straight Talk for over a year and just purchased a new phone. It’s a BLU Neo 4.5 on Android 4.2.2, I’ve activated the AT&T based SIM card for the phone last night. I can get my internet, talk, and texts to work. However, like everyone else my picture MMS are not working (incoming or outgoing). I need to figure this out ASAP, because I’ll return the phone if it’s not going to work. I called Straight Talk last night and they claim it’s not compatible. I have emailed BLU, but no response yet.

I’ve tried all of the combinations you’ve listed. Here is what I currently have:

    APN: tfdata
    APN type: default, mms, wap
    MMSC: http://mms.tf.net
    MMS proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
    MMS port: 80
    MCC: 310
    MNC: 410
    APN protocol: IPv4
    APN enable/disable: box is checked

Can you offer any suggestions? Thank you!

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi KellyN,
Use the link the Straight Talk web site on the help page to confirm your APN is tfdata. Your settings look correct for the tfdata APN. I would try deleting all the APNs on the APN list. Do a reset to defaults on the APN page. Remove any APNs that re-appear. Then create a new APN and enter your values again. Turn the phone off and on again and test.

I have many readers using BLU phones that have MMS working. Make sure to test both sending and receiving MMS. For some reason, it can take a few days for receiving MMS to work when you have transferred your phone number.

Let me know how it goes.
      Regards
      Bob

    • Mike Ryan | |

      Try these settings…

APN: tfdata mms (space is in there between tfdata and mms)
      MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
      MMS proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
      MMS Port: 80

    • angela harris | |

hey i gt a blu neo jr 4.2.2 phone i can’t gt picture text

      • Bob Thompson | |

        Hi Angela,
Did you try following the instructions?

  11. Tricia | |

hi i cant get my blu 4.5 running android version 4.2.1 to work with straight talk… current APN settings are at Apn: tfdata Apn type: default Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com Port:80 username: not set password: not set Server: not set MMSC: http://mms-tf.net MMS proxy: mms3.tracfone.com MMS port: not set

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Trica,
I’d set all my APNs to default. Delete any APNs present and create a new one. Look up you APN using the link on the help page. Enter the values. Try to get data working before worrying about MMS.
Let me know how it goes. I’d try an APN type of default, mms, wap. Let me know how it goes.

      Regards
      Bob

    • Mike | |

      Try APN: tfdata mms

      This should work

  12. Philip Strosnider | |

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Wendy,
Did you move a Net10 SIM from a different phone into your BLU? are you really saying your APN is “today’s”?
      Regards
      Bob

  14. Josh | |

My MMS works with the new APN setting (TFDATA MMS) but all of my group messages come in and sent out as single messages instead of staying in one thread. Is there a fix so I can have all of my group messages in one thread when they come in and sent out?

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Josh,
are you saying you set your APN to “tfdata mms” and it now works? There was another reader that said that too. I am still not sure how it can work with a space in between. I am glad to hear it is working.

I think the single messages vs the threaded messages is an option in the sms app? Are you using hangouts or the android default app on the BLU? My nexus 5 uses hangouts by default.
      Regards
      Bob

      • Mike | |

Sounds like that is an actual phone setting for the multiple recipient messages, and not a system issue.
Yes the space in tfdata mms works.
I’ve had many folks do this, with success.

        • Josh | |

Yes the data works fine with the space and now I can see when people send me MMS messages but they do not come in the single thread and when i send them out, they go to the recipients as a single message instead of a group message. I looked in my settings but I do not see anywhere in there to make the messages stay together in one message.

          • Bob Thompson | |

            Josh
Are you using Hangouts as the messaging app on your phone or the android app. I have a Nexus 5 which used Hangouts by default.

            Regards
            Bob

  20. Quanita | |

I tried all of this and my data is still not working.

  21. Mike | |

Yup there is a space in there.
So this is the fix for Android 4.1

    APN : tfdata mms

    • Mike | |

This is the fix for my mms that was not working.
It took chatting live with ST tech support twice, to get this info.

Straight Talk for Blu Tank 4.5 running Android 4.1.1

      APN: tfdata mms
      MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
      MMS proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
      MMS Port: 80

      • Bob Thompson | |

        Mike
        Thanks for clarifying
        Regards
        Bob

  22. mike | |

    exactly. APN is tfdata MMS

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Mike,
Really? with a space between it? If its working for you, that is great. But I think its a side effect. I don’t think you can have a space in an APN.
      Regards
      Bob

  23. Monica | |

I cant get to my APN settings on the Blu Advance 4.5…. I can see the words but I cant touch or do anything….

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Monica,
I am not sure what you mean. How far can you get in your settings? Can you get to the APNs screen? Do you have the SIM in the phone and can you make calls?
      Regards
      Bob

      • Mike | |

If the phone has any locked up mms that did not send… it will prevent you access to the adjustments of settings. Delete any messages that did not send, you will then be able to adjust them.

  24. Robin | |

I have entered all and they are correct but I stills can not get MMS

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Robin,
Can you send, but not receive MMS? Did you recently transfer your phone number to Straight Talk? Which SIM are you using and which APN is working for data.
      Regards
      Bob

    • Mike Ryan | |

Same here. I have a Blu Tank 4.5
Set it up as required, all functions but mms work.
I had to change the apn type; to default, mms, and wap
      in order to get online.
      Still no mms.

      • Bob Thompson | |

        Hi Mike,
Which APN settings are you using? Did you test both sending and receiving MMS?
        Regards
        Bob

        • Mike | |

I have used the apn that comes with the docs for BYOP, several others from you tubes, most have same info.
Even tried the Cingular settings, the apn att, mvno…etc.
With and without the proxy settings of 66.209.11.33.
Any settings other than the stock info, I lose the 3G connectivity.
Everything on the phone works fine… except mms in/out.
It will try to send until it loses the connection, and/or times out.
I am a very tech oriented dude, I understand this stuff pretty well, Audio/Electronic Tech. It has to be just one goofy setting that needs to be done…
          What say you Bob?

          • Mike | |

            Got it!

            APN needs to be:

            tfdata mms

            That is the fix!

          • Bob Thompson | |

            Hi Mike,
I am glad you fixed your problem. I am not sure what you mean. Are you saying you typed “tfdata mms” into the APN field in the settings?
            Regards
            Bob

  25. Nikki | |

I have a RCA 4.1 jellybean I havent been able to send any picture messages and i have set my APN.

  26. Enid | |

Hi i wanted to know if you could help me with the info on how to get internet working on my unlocked blu dash 5.0 phone with a metro unlimited sim card

  27. Jose | |

    Hello Bob,
As everyone else on here I am having problems with picture messages. I have a tank 4.5 and am using AT&T. I have been able to get the 3G to work by using
    APN : wap.cingular
    APN type: default,mms,wap
    MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
    MMS proxy: wireless.cingular.com
    MMS port: 80
The only problem is I still can’t get picture messages. Can you help

    Thanks
    Jose
PS: I hope the above settings can help others

    • Jose | |

One additions comment. If you are in a wifi area, turn it off or you will not see the H indicating you are getting 3G. Once you confirm that 3G is working, you can turn wifi back on and the phone will use 3G when it needs to and wifi when it is available.

      • Jose | |

With these “phone” setting I can no longer receive picture messages. I reverted back to the settings I has and I could receive but not sent pic messages.

      • Jose | |

And I am using AT&T regular service.

        • Bob Thompson | |

Try the settings in the screen shot.

        • Bob Thompson | |

          try APN type
internet + mms with the settings you have now

          • Jose | |

I’ve tried the setting on the screen shot and I’ve tried changing the APN type. There is no internet setting. The only choices are : default, wap,mms and supl. I’ve tried checking one at a time, two at a time and three at a time in different configuration. I’ve also tried checking them all on. I have not found a configuration that works to send picture messages. Any other ideas?

            Thanks

          • Bob Thompson | |

            Try removing the mms proxy

    • Jose | |

And the most important setting I forgot to mention is that under settings in the “3G Services” you have to change “Network Mode” to WCDMA only mode otherwise this will not work.

  28. David Roe | |

The settings you give for straight talk are the same for net10. I still can’t send picture message or receiving them

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi David,
Net10 and Straight Talk are owned by the same company. That is why the settings are the same. You odd not mention is you are using the Net10 ATT network compatible SIM or Net10 TMobile network compatible SIM. Which APN are you using for data?

      Regards
      Bob

      Regards
      Bob

  33. Jordan | |

Hey guys i got a question everything works on my phone except i cant receive mms messages but i can send them

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Jordan,
try this.. a reader suggested it
With BLU phones you have to set the APN type as default, mms, and wap. I did that and now I can get MMS messages. It said that was for ATT and ATT based sim cars and that for T-mobile it needs to be default, mms, and supl.

Let me know if it worked for you
      Regards
      Bob

      • Malia J | |

Thank you!! This fixed my very frustrating issue. I’m so happy now I can actually receive and send pic msgs!

        • Bob Thompson | |

You are welcome. I am glad it helped.

  34. Lachelle | |

I finally fixed it!!!!!! After hours of tweaking, I finally got it to work. I kept everything the same as far as the APN settings are concerned, but only one thing different… Where it says APN type, I checked default and MMS and saved the settings. All fixed! So for anyone else out there who may have this problem, u could try it and it may work for u too!

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Lachelle,
I am glad to hear you were able to fix your phone. I apologize for the problem with the help page. It looks like there was a publishing issue on the website and I need to restore the part of the page is missing. And thank you for taking the time to come back, tell us your got your phone working and share your solution.
      Regards
      Bob

  35. Lachelle | |

I just purchased a blue tank 4.5 and my data works to get internet and gmail, but I can’t send or receive MMS messages. I already changed the APN settings and contacted straight talk as well but I still have the same problem. Any help??? I’m kinda having the same problem as the guy above me, but he didn’t tell how his problem was resolved. So can you help? Please?

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Lachelle,
What APN settings did you enter? The ones on this page?
      Regards
      Bob

      • Lachelle | |

I entered the ones that Straight Talk gave me. How do I get to the ones on this page?

      • Lachelle | |

For some reason, I can’t seem to access your guide for this particular phone model. I end up here at the comments page every time. Don’t know what I’m doing wrong… It is an unlocked gsm blu tank 4.5 with a straight talk bring your own phn sim. The APN settings I used were from the apn.straighttalksim.com website. I typed in my phn # and the android system which is 4.1.1 (jellybean). Everything works as far as internet and gmail, but my MMS doesn’t work. Then I called straight talk after doing it myself only to hear them tell me that they can’t guarantee MMS will work when I bring my own phn. That’s how I ended up on this site. But I can’t get to your guide and now I’m getting frustrated. However, I do realize that it is Christmas day! So I will wait for your next response. Thank you for anything you may be able to do to help me from this point forward.

  36. Craig | |

    Good Morning,
I purchased a Blu Tank 4.5 unlocked GSM android phone and a Straight Talk AT&T sim card. I am unable to get 3g service on my phone also unable to receive mmtext. I have followed the guide to change the APN settings and have also contacted Straight Talk, still NO luck. I had also purchased a Blu Dash 4.0 unlocked GSM phone and AT&T sim (sims are both from Straight Talk) and it does not get the 3g service nor receive mmtext.
    Could you please HELP?
    Thanks,
    Craig

      • Craig | |

        Hi Bob,
Since the time time I had posted this, I have finally got it fixed. I am getting 4g data now.
But, I am having problems with my wifes Blu Dash 4.0. I have changed the apn setting to match mine. She only gets EDGE data. Her phone has 2 sim slots. I have her sim in the GSM slot at this time. I have contacted Straight Talk on 2 different occasions and still having problems.
I you could help, I would appreciate it
        Thanks,
        Craig
