Help Setting up Straight Talk Data and MMS on the Motorola Atrix Running Android 2.3

I created this page to help readers set up Straight Talk Wireless data, Internet, and MMS picture messaging on the Motorola Atrix running Android 2.3. Leave a comment and let me know. I do not have an Atrix I phone but I have written a number of guides for Apple iPhones, Android phones, and even Windows phone so I can try to help you.

If your voice or basic SMS text messages do not work this page will not help you, call Straight Talk support. If you are unable to use your cellular data to access the internet, send or receive MMS picture messages, or group text messages then this page may help you.

This page is for Motorola Atrix phones using the Straight Talk AT&T or Straight Talk T-Mobile network SIM cards. If you are not using a SIM in your phone, you may be using Straight Talk on the Verizon or Sprint networks and this page will not help you. Leave a comment if that is the case.

In order to get data and mms service working you must enter the correct APN and MMS settings into your phone.  Once you have the correct values, you enter them into the  APN settings on your phone.

If you are using the Straight Talk ATT SIM your values are:

APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80

If you are using the Straight Talk T-Mobile SIM your values are:

APN: wap.tracfone
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS proxy port: 80

If you have already tried to set up data and MMS using these values. Leave a comment and I will try to help. These are the most commonly used values.

I do not have an Atrix phone to verify this is correct. If you are reading this, please leave a comment and tell me if this is correct or what needs to be changes. There are so many Android phones available on the market today and I am not able to create a guide for every model.

I have Tracfone service and recently transferred my account to the BYOP program… A Motorola Atrix running on AT&T. After receiving a SIM card from Tracfone and receiving automatic APN codes from them, I could not access internet thru Data, only thru WiFi. I followed your instructions and now it all works. Originally, the Access Point Names were listed as AT&T Phone and Reseller. AT&T was selected and I could not unselect it. Once a new APN name was added, that became the selected APN and everything worked. THANK YOU!

I had been able to use my data, just not receive mms. After entering all those codes I can now no longer use my data or receive mms. I am using the motorola atrix mb860 I think. This is all for straight talk. Also, every time I use the app it just says it is unable to do that and I should try again in an hour, every time I use it.

Hey I have a samsung galaxy ace style straight talk and I want to switch my number to my motorola atrix hd wich is at&t. Can u help me thank u

The stock messaging app in the Motorola ATRIX 4G MB860 has some sort of hardcoded setting that doesn’t allow it to recieve mms. Regardless of apn settings. Replace it with any from the play store or stock cyanogen 7.

HI, I bought a straight talk phone w/ the sim card but now I’m wanting to use a diff phone. I put the sim card in an at&t motorola atrix, i can get text and calls but no internet. Do i need a new sim card for a non straight talk phone? Please help

      Hi Rae,
Yo use data, internet, MMS picture messaging, and group texts, set up your APN See Help Setting up Straight Talk Data and MMS on the Motorola Atrix Running Android 2.3.

Your Straight Talk SIM is either for the Straight Talk AT&T or Straight Talk T-Mobile network. You didn’t mention which SIM you are using. There are several different Atrix phones. You need to make sure the one you are using is compatible with the network you are using. The Straight Talk ATT SIM is compatible with the AT&T Atrix. The Straight Talk T-Mobile SIM may be only partially compatible resulting in data not working or only working at very low speeds.

Follow the help page above and see if it works for you. If you need to switch to the Straight Talk ATT SIM you just need to buy an new SIM and transfer your service to it. You can do that from the Straight Talk web site. It’s pretty easy to do and doesn’t take too long.
      Regards
      Bob
