This page explains how to set up your Straight Talk Wireless data, internet, MMS picture messages, and group texts on your Samsung Galaxy S4 using Android 4. If you are unable to browse the web without wi-fi, send and receive MMS picture messages and group texts this page may help.
This page will show you how set your Straight Talk Wireless APN settings on your phone. Your data, MMS picture messages, and group texts won’t work unless you have set this up correctly. This page is only for people using a Straight Talk Wireless SIM with Straight Talk’s AT&T-compatible network or Straight Talk’s T-Mobile compatible SIM.
If you were searching for one of the following APN Settings or values, this page might just be what you are looking for. Don’t worry if you have any idea what these mean.

This page won’t help if your Galaxy S4 is using Straight Talk’s Verizon-compatible or Straight Talk’s Sprint compatible network. This page will also not help if you are unable to place and receive phone calls or send and receive SMS text messages. Contact Straight Talk Wireless support if voice service or SMS text message are not working.
Smartphonematters has a number of very detailed guides that explain how to set up Straight Talk APNs for iPhones, Android, and Windows phones we use. See our APN Settings Guides. We created this help page, and our other help pages for phones we don’t have, but readers have asked for help with, see our APN Settings Help if you are are looking for help with a different phone.

I have a Galaxy S4 from At&t that is provisioned for ST and I have been using it with no issues for a while now with the correct APN settings. However, after the new Android update (5.0.1) there is now an APN setting for AT&T that I cannot delete. The straight talk APN settings are still there, but I can only text and call, and even then it shows I have no service almost everywhere when before I had no problem. I am at a loss on how to get my data back.
Sha,
Try doing a reset to default. Then create a new APN and enter your APN values.
Look up your APN her. Looking up Your Straight Talk Wireless APN Settings Let me know how it goes.
I have a samsung galaxy s4 lte (believe it either runs off of at&t or verizon) not sure how to tell.. I cannot recieve picture messages from other android users.. I will try to download the picture and no matter what it will not download. I can, though, send picture messages. I’ve reset my apn settings, tried all sorts of different apn settings that I’ve seen other people using.. and still nothing. This is the only problem I have run into with this phone, but it’s almost frustrating enough to get rid of straight talk all-together and go somewhere else.
Hi Courtney,
Install the signal check lite application from the Google play store. It should tell you which network your phone is using.

I have a Samsung galaxy s4 with straight talk (att) and everything works except for sending/receiving picture messages. How do I fix this?
Laura,
Did you follow the instructions on all four pages of the article?

Can not send mms texts not even when I am on Wifi but I can receive them. No problem with my Internet either. Tried every different APN setting I could find, did a factory reset and spent almost 2 hrs on the phone with technical support. I never had this problem before and have had this phone for about 8 mths. I sent a couple mms texts in the morning and went to send one that afternoon and it wouldn’t send. Please help me.
Dawn,
Do you know which Straight Talk network you are using? ATT, Verizon, Sprint, TMobile or you don’t know?
Look up your APN settings here. Looking up Your Straight Talk Wireless APN Settings
My atnt s4 Straight talk apns arent working at all help please
Use the link on page 2 of this article to look up your apn, what is it?
Hi. I recently bought a Verizon S4 on ebay (not from China) that was listed as being able to work on the ST network. I switched my SIM card out from my old S3 (not sure what SIM it is but it’s white) and played with the APN setting forever. I’m still having issues with sending pics, have the “H+” at the top with only two bars. I’m in a great area where coverage should be perfect. Any help you could offer would be wonderful. I don’t even know what network I’m on!
Tara,
Use the link in the article to look up your APN settings. What are they? If you think you entered them correctly. Try setting your APN type to default, mms, wap for Straight Talk’s ATT network and default, mms, supl for Straight Talk’s TMobile network.
I used your help earlier this year when I was getting a blu studio on the tmobile net work and you were awesome. however I took my old Samsung galaxy 4 from work and factory reset it and used my tmobile sim card and I can use the internet and make phone calls but unless I am on wifi I cant send text messages please help
thank you so much!
I have a straight talk Galaxy S4 that runs off att. I used you advice for the APN and now my phone is able to send photos. Thank you. I cannot connect to Amazon App using mobile data only Wi-Fi. Can you please help me bob?
Hi Minnny,
See my reply
To all,
After I Took off Power Saving Option and everything works great.
Hi Minnny,
Really? So after turning off the power save, your apn stopped switching?
Hello Bob,
Well after I took off power save I was able to send pictures through messaging and my apps started to work. I had problems with the Walmart App and Amazon App. (since those were the ones I was using at the time). And intermitting would not get internet from what I think was because of the power saving option. I have had absolutely no problems with my phone since.
I think I was wrong about the APN being a problem. It is a straight talk Galaxy 4s using ATT towers. My dads wife has the exact same phone and I called her and her APN was set up exactly the same way as mine. She then mention she has a similar experience with internet problems (not working) but once she turned off the power save everything worked just fine. So I turned it off restarted the phone and then I was able to send photos and able to get 100% internet all of the time. My battery life is not affected by taking off power save.
ok sorry it took me so long to reply ;(
Minnny,
See my reply My Amazon Shopping App Doesn’t Work with Cellular Data
I have a samsung galaxy s4 originally from verizon. I have the lte sim for at&t. I’ve setup my apns and everything works great from my house (not lte service). However, when i was in lte service today, i tried sending a regular text message, but it wouldn’t send. I kept retrying, but until i left the lte area, it wouldn’t send. Once i was back in h+, i had no problem sending the text (no changes to apns). Any ideas how to fix???
Hi CJT,
I am not sure what the problem is, but the APN doesn’t doesn’t have any effect on SMS or plain text messages. The APN is for data an MMS, eg. picture messages and group texts.
When you are at home does your phone show that it’s connected to the network HOME? When you had LTE was it also connected to HOME? Where you able to make voice calls? Did data work when you had LTE?
Not sure about being connected to home, but data & picture messages on lte work fine, just not plain texts. Everything works fine on h+ without wifi too. So very odd.
Thanks so much! Your website provided the help to get my phone working properly (unlike the straight talk websites and customer (un)service center

So thankful for your website. Straight Talk left out a key setting for my phone. As others have also had problems with Android 5.0 and Samsung Galaxy 4 (AT&T), I tried 50 or more different APN settings before I finally found your site.
So for me, the missing ingredient was the APN Type. My phone default only showed “default” and “hipri”. I updated to “default, mms, wap”. It still didn’t work at first. Then I did a ‘reset’, started over, entered all the settings again, then after about an hour a whole backlog of picture messages all went through! FINALLY!
Thanks again for posting this helpful info. I only wish Straight Talk had better information on their site.
Hi Mark,
thanks for the kind words. Yes I set up this site after trying to figure this all out for my iPhone, which was actually more complicated to set up than Android. I got so many request for help with other phones, I started to create pages for different phones.
In the past, I actually had a few readers tell me that Straight Talk support told them to come to smartphonematters for help. I have no idea if thats true, but it was kind of fun to hear.
On a more serious note, I’d think they would save a ton of money on support calls if they create some better support materials.
Glad you got your phone working.

Bob
Hey, I read through each page carefully as well as the comments, and my 4g is working. I set up all the apn settings on my galaxy s4 that i converted from at & t to straight talk. so my 4g is working, i even reseted the apns to default and made the apn Again with all the correct values. But i still cant send mms. Can you help me please?
Hi,
Did you set your APN type to default, mms, wap?
Yes. I set it to default, mms, wap
Hi Jacob,
You can send me some screenshots of your APN to look at if you want. Send them to bob (at the name of this website).
You can do that first or you might want to try this.
Try this. Note I did this on my nexus, you should be able to do this on your phone.
You are going to put your phone in recovery mode and clear the cache!
Turn your phone off
once off, hold the volume down. and the power key
use the volume up until you see recovery mode
tap the power button
After the phone restarts,
volume up
scroll to Wipe the Cache Partition
Tap the power to select
wait
Reboot system is selected in the menu
tap power key
wait for reboot.
Follow the guide again and use the APN values below.
A couple of notes.
You can backup you phone before you do this, but it shouldn’t erase any data
I did it to my phone 15 minutes ago to make sure it was safe to recommend to you.
I didn’t notice any data missing on my phone.
My nexus 5 is my second phone, so all I can say is all my pics and texts were still there.
My MMS already worked, so I can only say it worked for someone else.
This youtube video is pretty good to see how to do use recovery mode on the nexus 5. PLEASE NOTE, he is selecting a DIFFERENT OPTION than the one you want to choose. you want ******Wipe the Cache Partition*****
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMjDL1FVtcA
Please let me know if you try this or not and how you make out.
I dunno.. i’m pretty skeptical about it i have a lot of things in myphone i dont want to redownload or try and replace Yaknow? And are you sure i will be able to do that on my Galaxy S4?
Cause you know, galaxy, Nexus.
It should work on any android phone. It shouldn’t erase any data from your phone. You should always backup your phone. I can’t guarantee it fill fix you problem. You can also Google to see what people are saying about doing this on the s4. I am pretty sure other readers here have done it. It’s been a while.
the problem with mine was nothing to do with apn it was turning power saving mode off, worked for many other people too 🙂
Hi Angela,
thanks for sharing that. I hadn’t heard that solution before.

Bob
My phone just updated to Android 5.0.1. Now I can no longer send pictures. My apn settings are:
Name: tfdata
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS proxy: mms3.tracfone.net
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: default, mms, wap
Hi Christina,
I’d try Resetting the APN Settings to Default on Your Android Phone and then setting up your APN again. I haven’t created a guide for Android 5 yet, so just use the instructions on the page you commented on.
Regards
Bob
Ugh! No, that didn’t work.
what value are you using for your MMS proxy?
mms3.tracfone.com
We got it working. I didn’t have 80 in “port”, just “mms port”.
Hi Christina,
Glad to hear that. 80 is the “default”. Surprised it didn’t work without it. Glad it’s working now.
Regards,
Bob
I have a samsung s4, straight talk, non ported number, att sim card. I am able to access internet including this site on there. I am unable to send and receive mms pictures. I’m not sure what I did but now I am also unable to send regular messages now. Through hangouts it works. Here is what I have programmed:
Name: new
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
Multimedia message proxy: mms3.tracfone.net
multimedia message port: 80
mcc: 310
mnc: 410
apn type: tfdata
All else are basically Not Set. There’s one other APN called ‘ATT phone’ that I am unable to edit.
Hi Rinoa,
Your APN settings are not correct. Talk a look at all four pages of the article you commented on and set up your APN again.
Regards
Bob
I went through it again using:
Name: tfdata
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80
APN Type: default, mms, wap
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Still nothing. On page 2, step 20 I tried both ways. In my access point settings, i have both proxy/port and multimedia message proxy/multimedia message port. I tried setting one. then the other. then both. Same results.
Straight talk site shows:
FIELD SETTINGS
APN tfdata
MMSC http://mms-tf.net
MMS PROXY mms3.tracfone.com
MMS PORT 80
MMS_APN tfdata
What exactly do I need to set?
Rinoa,
Those look right.
I’d try going to the APN settings page. Select reset to default and then edit and delete all the apns. Create a new one and reentering the values. These seems to work for many people. It’s strange that your sms text messaging stopped working. The an settings have no effect on sms messages only mms messages.
Bob, just wanted to say that the settings that Rinoa listed above worked for me (the ones she lists after saying she just went through it all again). I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 (AT&T unlocked) that just updated to Android 5.0.1 OTA yesterday. Everything seemed to go well, but I realized I couldn’t receive MMS messages, and kept getting a “no data connection” message if I wasn’t connected to WIFI.
I did what you suggested, and reset the APN’s to default and then created a new APN. Whew! Your site is very helpful, thank you.
Hi Mary Ann,
That is great news. For some reason, that reset seems to do the trick for people. I am glad the site helped you.

Bob,
I need your help. Your website helped me fix the ability to send a picture text message and send a group text when I first set it up on straight talk.. Sadly my phone has no longer sends pics via text or group text. It has reverted back to its original problem. I didn’t change a thing. I have searched tirelessly and can’t get it to work. I have a galaxy s4 from t-mobile. The crazy thing is each time I change the MNC to 410 then save it. The phone deletes it. It’s gone! Any idea?? I can receive text pictures and group texts but can’t send. I can send a text out.
Everything else is set as far as APN as you have explained.
Help!!
Hi Darin,
I have gotten about 5 or 6 comments from others using Straight Talk t-mobile. Can you look up your APN here and tell me what it is?

I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 that i am using through Straight Talk. When I called to have the phone activated they walked me through setting up the VPN. I was able to send and receive messages when it was first set up but now i can only receive messages but not reply to single messages or group texts. How do I fix this?
Hi Chasity,
Try setting up your APN again using the instructions in the artcile you left the comment on. Try setting your APN type to default, mms, wap.
I have successfully connect 4g connection on my Samsung Galaxy S4 but it doesn’t want to get the 4gLTE what should I change on de APN setting or do u know other option to add it? My phone don’t want to run correctly without the LTE. Thanks
Hi Catherine,
I am not sure I understand. How do you know your phone has 4G, but not 4G LTE? What doesn’t work on your phone? voice calls? text messages? cellular data? MMS picture messages?
Did you try following the instructions in this article to set up your APN?
I was given a Galaxy 3 from sprint by my best friend when she got her upgrade, and Straight Talk will not let me activate it! I even called, but they keep telling me it isn’t compatible. Really bummed out, since the phone I currently have is a piece of crap and I do not want to spend $300 on a nice new phone! Might just go to virgin mobile, or elsewhere if I can’t resolve this.
Hi Brittany,
Your Galaxy S3 needs to be eligible to use it on Straight Talk’s Sprint network. They don’t publish the list of criteria that makes a phone eligible. Generally its believed the phone needs to not have been reported lost or stolen and the account it came from was in good standing. This means the account doesn’t have an outstanding balance and the contract is up of the EFT was paid.
Contact Sprint and ask them if the phone has a bad ESN. If it doesn’t, you should be able to use it one of the prepaid wireless companies that use the Sprint network. You can check with PagePlus, Red Pocket, and several others such as Virgin Mobile.
You might be able to use the phone with the Straight Talk ATT or TMobile network if you the prevoius owner can get Sprint to unlock it for you. Unlocking Your AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon or Sprint iPhone, Android, or Windows Phone
I have an S4 Active that I got from At&t. I recently switched it to Straight Talk. Since the switch, everything works fine. The only problem is that I cannot send or receive picture messages. No matter if I am on wifi or data, it continues to tell me it failed and to try again later. A few days ago I spent over an hour on the phone with Straight Talk techs trying to change the APN and all that. Even tried to set the Hangout App as my default messaging app and still nothing. I would love it if someone, ANYONE could assist me in fixing the problem. It is ever so infuriating.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Tiffany,
Did you follow the instructions in the article? Have you tried setting your APN type to default, mms, wap?
Make sure you do not have any spaces between the words or commas when you type “default, mms, wap” (the instructions above make it look like there should be spaces). I just got an s4 active and was having the same problem until I removed the spaces.
These are the exact settings I used:
Name: tfdata
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80
APN Type: default,mms,wap
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Hi Tina,
Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll update the article to remove the spaces.

Bob
My phone is overheating and also can not connect to Web without wifi how do I connect and set my phone up correctly
Hi Sarah,
If your phone is overheating, you’ll need to contact the manufacturer’s technical support. As for setting up cellular data, are you using Straight Talk’s ATT, Tmobile. Verizon or Tmobile network? Follow the instructions here for the att and tmobile networks. Help Setting up Straight Talk Data and MMS on the Samsung Galaxy S4 Running Android 4

Bob
I already had straight talk service with an unlocked iphone. I bought a Samsung Galaxy that is not unlocked (but I have the request sent to AT&T to unlock the phone). I have all the settings in but still won’t send picture messages. Do I have to wait until the phone is officially unlocked before these will go through?
Hi Christina,
Generally speaking, your ATT smartphone doesn’t need to be unlocked to use it with Straight Talk. Some readers claim that unlocking their phone have solved MMS problems, but MMS works for many people with locked phones so its not definitive.
there are some other things you can try though. first, make sure you set your APN type to default, mms, wap . If that doesn’t work, try going to your APNs page in settings and choosing Reset to Default. After that, edit each APN in the list and delete it. After deleting all the APNs, create a new one and set the values again. A lot of people find this helps. It could be removing all the APNs resets something in the phone or that people end up correcting mistakes made entering their APN the first time.

Bob
Does the at&t Galaxy s4 take the same Sim as the s4 active for Straight talk?
Hi Nadia,
Both phones should use the same size SIM, a micro SIM. But, if your bought an S4 active from Straight Talk I am not sure what network it is using. The Straight Ta;l ATT and Straight Talk T-Mobile compatible network both use SIMs. A Straight Talk S4 Active could also be using Straight Talk’s verizon or sprint compatible network.
Let me know if you have more questions.

I have a galaxy s4 tmobil but I already put a straight talk unlimited card on it …. I still don’t have internet so what do I do
Hi Araya,
Follow the instructions on all of the pages on the article you left the comment on. Look up your APN settings on the Straight Talk web site using the link I provided. Set your APN on your phone. Let me know how it goes.
My mms still isn’t working. But I can still access the internet. I did what you said but I’m getting discouraged… Here are my settings…
APN: tfdata mms (tried with just tfdata before and then added mms but mms isn’t working yet)
Mmsc:http://mms-tf.net
Mm proxy: mmsc3.tracfone.com
Mm port:80
Mcc:310
Mnc: 410
Apn type: default, mms, wap
Default, mms, wap
HI! I recently bought an At&T Galaxy S4 but was using an Iphone 4S with Straighttalk. I finally was able to get my internet working with the Galaxy from using this site but cannot get the picture messaging to work…I am using APN tfdata. Please help! Thank you!!
hi Ash,
Did you set the APN type?
Yes I did. Used what your site said to as well as straight talks site
What values did you put in the APN type?
Default, mms, wap
Hi Ash,
Two things to try.
first,
Go to the APN settings page, do a reset to defaults.
Delete any APNs left in the list after the reset.
Create a new APN with your settings and test.
Some readers have set their APN to tfdata mms and reported it worked. That doesn’t work for me. If fact my data stops working when I do that.
Let me know how it goes.

Bob
I’m getting so much mixed answers about my galaxy s4. I want to switch to straight talk but most everyone is saying I can’t bring mine because it’s a verizon phone. Some say I can if I just give it a random imei number. Can I really do that? When I go to the straight talk site and see about bringing my phone my zip code checks out ok but when I put in my real imei it says not eligible. Mine is a verizon phone but does have a sim card slot with a sim card in it. I would LOVE it if I could use my phone I already have but if I can’t, I don’t want to waste $60 on the straight talk kit. I hope I’ve given you enough info to help me out. Thanks in advance.
Hi Christina,
If you entered your IMEI/MEID into the Straight Talk website, and it says it’s not eligible the. You can’t use it on straight talk’s Verizon network. You can’t activate it by entering a fake MEID.
But, straight talk also uses the ATT and Tmobile networks and your phone should be compatible with those. When you sign up to use one of those networks, you activate a SIM, and put the SIM in your phone. The sim slot on your Verizon s4 is unlocked so all this works.
This means if your willing to use the att or tmobile networks, ST is an option for you. If those networks don’t work well were you live, or you want to be on the Verizon network ST isn’t the best choice.
Further, the ST Verizon network is 3G only. Much slower than Verizon’s 4G LTE network. When you use your S4 with ST’s att network you’ll get 4g or 4g lte service which is faster.
I haven’t used it myself, but you should also check out Verizon prepaid which recently started offering LTE on their prepaid network. See Verizon Prepaid Now Offers 4G LTE!
Let me know how it goes or if you have more questions.
Regards
Bob
Well I was able to make it work, however, I don’t seem to have very good reception, which is surprising and disappointing because my boyfriend has At and T and gets decent reception anywhere we go. (all I have are 2 bars and an H, instead of 4g or 1x?) I was able to change the APN settings but unable to delete the old ones- for some reason it won’t even allow me to click on the verizon settings now? It still says verizon when the phone is powering on and every time I power it on, it gives me a warning that the sim card is from an unknown source. Is there something(s) I missed that I need to do still? Thanks again.
Hi Christina,
The Verizon logo you see when you power on the phone is part of the software on your phone, that will not change. It’s just an picture that gets displayed. It’s not a sign that something is wrong.
If you see an H in your status bar it means you are getting a 3G / 4G data connection which is good. As far as I know your phone will never display a 4G in the status bar. H, maybe H+, or LTE. Seeing a 1x would mean you have an painfully slow data connection.
Download the this app and measure your data speeds. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zwanoo.android.speedtest&hl=en
Let me know what they are.
As for the number of bars, I am not sure what the issue is. Look in you Mobil network settings. what is your preferred network type set to?
If the Verizon APN settings aren’t selected or active they shouldn’t be an issue.
you mentioned you are only getting 2 bars, are you noticing an issue with call quality?
Regards
Bob
I bought a straight talk Galaxy s4 a few months ago. Data and mms worked fine then it randomly stopped. I’ve tried everything shown and nothing is changing. It’s only showing my service bars, no network indicator or anything. When I try to use the straight talk website to find the settings for my phone it says my number does not exist. Don’t know what to do next.
Hi Chandler,
I am not sure which Straight Talk network your Galaxy S4 is using. If you dialed a activation code, when you set it up its using the verizon or sprint network. I’d recommend dialing that activation sequence again. That is supposed to program your APN settings. Try it. if it doesn’t work, contact Straight Talk support using live chat and ask them for help.
Let me know how it goes, and if your phone is using a SIM card

Bob
I have been at this for hours. Not working. Have the at&t sim. Used the first tf data. Yes I put the apn type. Have deleted all other apns and have set default and tried again. NOTHING will work. 4g is not even on my bar at the top! Please help!
Hi Michelle,
Sorry to hear that your phone is working. if you turn off Wi-Fi, you should see the cellular network connection and network indicator in your status bar regardless of whether you set the APN or not. You did not mention it, but I will assume that you are able to make/receive voice calls and send/receive SMS text messages. If not, setting the APN isn’t going to help.
A few things to check. Are you sure you are using the ST att sim? What color was the plastic card your SIM came out of? Do you know for a fact that the att network has coverage in your area? What is the model number of your phone?
Regards,
Bob
I have the samsung galaxy s4 att but I’m using it with straight talk. I could receive messages but it won’t let me send message. Help plz

i have a HTM t9500-b android. i was told it was a samsung galaxy 3. it has dual SIM. i just tried activating it with Straight Talk and its not working. at all. its saying there is NO SIM. i transferred my old phone number from VERIZON. what am i doing wrong?? why isn’t it working? its saying it transferred?
Hi Jessica,
Unfortunately, your phone is not a Samsung Galaxy S3. Its an inexpensive Chinese made phone designed to look like a Samsung phone.
Did it come in a box like this? http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Feiteng-HTM-5-Iich-S4-SIV-i9500-t9500-B-SC6820-1GHZ-854X480-IPS-Android-4-2/910351_1417372312.html The HTM is styled to look like HTC, a name brand phone maker.
These Chinese made android phone have limited compatibility with US GSM networks. Most of the times, readers tell me they can make voice calls but the data doesn’t work. Sometimes data does work, but if so it’s really slow.
I doubt you will be happy with this phone. Your best option is to return this phone and buy a name brand phone that is compatible with 3G / 4G / 4G LTE data. If you are sending $45+ a month for an unlimited data plan, and you need to buy a phone getting, you want to be able to use at least 3G.
I am surprised voice isn’t working though. Did your Verizon phone stop working? If so, the number transfer most likely went through. If not your service has not be properly transferred.
Where did you get your Straight Talk SIM? Are you using Straight Talk’s att or Straight Talk’s tmobile SIM? I am suprised the phone says NO SIM. Try the other SIM slot to see if it works.
Let me know.

Bob
Do you have set-up for Galaxy S5 or is it the same as S4?
Hi Mike,
It should be close enough to follow. Give it a try.
i have a cloned htm android t9500 from china..i bought thd sim card from straight talk its tmobile and have done everything im suppose to..i can send an recieve messages and make calls but cant get the internet.
Hi Tracy,
Did you set the APN? if not, try this Help with Straight Talk Data and MMS APNs for Blu Vivo 4.3
But, the it issue with many chinese phones is they don’t support 3G in the US. Do you have a link to the specs?
I have an ATT Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, I bought the ATT Straight Talk Sim Card, and it says I have 4g LTE, but I cannot send MMS. I have tried at least 5 different APN settings, and nothing. HELP!?!?!?
Hi Beth,
What settings are you using. Did you enter the APN type?

Bob
okay, i have tried for days to receive picture messages on my Att compatible straight talk android 4.3 galaxy s4 active. i have tried multiple apn settings, im a long time straight talk customer so the number isnt new. ive talked to three straight talk reps none of which were of much help. i switched sims from a family member who uses the same service same phone to ensure it isnt phone issue and they were able to receive pictures on my phone with their sim. i am at a loss for what to do at this point. any advice?
Hi Dustin,
Are you using Straight Talk’s AT&T network-compatible SIM or Straight’s Talk T-Mobile network-compatible SIM? Visit the Straight Talk website to look up your APN settings. Use your phone number and your phone type select Android 4.0 & 4.1. What does the site return for your APN settings?

Hello Bob,
I have the straight talk At&t compatible sim, it brings me the tfdata settings and i have tried to add default, mms, wap to apn type with no luck so far. ive talked to 3 representatives for straight talk, one told me he had to update something with my system an should work within an hour, no luck. another told me to google it, and the last one is sending me a new sim card.
Hi Dustin,
A new SIM might help. I think sometimes when they can’t figure out the problem, transferring to a new SIM helps. Resets whatever the issue is.
Hello, I just got an AT&T Galaxy S4 to use with straighttalk. I was previously using an AT&T iPhone 4s with straighttalk. With my iPhone I was able to get data and mms. With my Galaxy the data works but not MMS. My sister has the same phone (SGS4) running on straighttalk with no mms problems. I copied her APN settings and still have problems. I used the tfdata apn settings if that helps at all.
Hi Kara,
Did you just move your SIM from the iPhone to the S4?
If you swap SIMs with your sister, you can see if your SIM works in her phone and her SIM works in your phone. This will tell you if there is an iise wit the SIM or the phone
you can also go into the APN settings, do a reset to default, delete any existing APNs and reenter your APN settings.
Let me know

Bob
Yes I did… Should I have bought a new sim when I switched phones? I will try her phone if I can and try the reset to default. Hopefully I can figure something out.. I’ll keep you posted if something works!
After putting in the same tfdata apn settings what seems like 100 times it finally worked! My guess is resetting the defaults helped, even though I started with a brand new phone.
For all users that bought a Samsung S4 w/SIM on the APN type you have to include what the old AT&T setting had which is default, mms, supl, hipri, fota. Reboot and it should work. I received all 4 photos my wife was trying to send me from the previous days plus the two that I sent earlier when it did not work with Straight Talks recommendations. In essence use what the carrier was using when it was still locked under their services.
Hi Roke,
thanks for the tip. I’ll have to tell people to try that. A lot of times an APN of default, mms, wap seems to fix issues when using the Straight Talk ATT SIM.

Bob

Hello, so i can not get my MMS Straight talk to work and my internet is deathly slow, i have a factory unlocked Galaxy s4 and i checked it with ATT and made sure it was not illegally unlocked.
But my settings currently in my APN are exactly what yours are, but do i need to delete the “Cingular” APN that i disabled and only have the TFdata one?
I currently am using the Straight talk – TFdata- Mms3-tracfone ect.ect. one and im so annoyed straight talk will not help me, my boyfriend has AT&T and he gets service everywhere and when his gets service, mine gets none at all. :C
thanks :3
Hi Mina,
I am sure you tried this already, but if you haven’t restart your phone. Power it down an up again. Sometimes this fixes the problem. If data is still slow.
Now Lets see what type of data connection you are getting…
When you turn off Wi-Fi, and test your cellular data connection using the web browser, what do you see in your status bar? How many bars do you see? There should also be a network speed indicator. Do see an E, 3G, 4G or 4G LTE? Press and hold the power and volume down key to take a screenshot. I may need you to email it to me.
Next your SIM
Straight Talk sells both ATT and T-Mobile network compatible SIMs. Do you know which SIM you are using? the Straight Talk ATT SIM usually comes on a blue card and the T-Mobile on a pink card. If you are using a T-Mobile sim, that could be the cause of the problem. Usually the tfdata APN is for the ST ATT network.
Look in Settings->More->Mobile Networks. Do you have a Preferred network type. Is it set to 2G, 3G, or LTE? It should be set to LTE. I’m not sure if the S4 has this setting or if steps are labeled the same. I am looking on my Nexus 5. Restart your phone afterwards.
If this doesn’t work and you have any more questions, feel free to ask. If you get a chance, I’d love to hear back with an update of how things worked out.

I have a sim unlocked sprint Galaxy s4 running 4.4.2 I’ve tried everything I can’t get mms at all Help!!! I’m a mother of 4 this is what my babysitter uses to tattle lol please help me I can’t find any help I’m using net10 AT&T sim great 4g respect ion
Hi Noemi,
Try following my Nexus 5 guide. Look up your APN on the net10 website using the link in the guide.
How to Set up Net10 Wireless Data and MMS on Your Nexus 5 Running Android 4.4
Make sure to set the APN type.
Before you start, you might want to go to the APN settings page, do a Reset to Default, then edit each existing APN and delete it. That way you are starting with a fresh APN.
Make sure to test both sending and receiving.

Bob
