Finding You Cellular Data Settings
You need to set five mandatory values and one optional value in Cellular Data They are:
- CELLULAR DATA – APN
- MMS – APN
- MMS – MMSC
- MMS – MMS Proxy
- MMS – MMS Max Message Size
- MMS – MMS UA Prof URL
Your CELLULAR DATA – APN is one of three values, tfdata, wap.tracfone, or att.mvno which you should know from the previous section. Your MMS – APN is the same as your CELLULAR DATA – APN. Your MMSC and MMS Proxy depend on what value your MMSC is. See the list of values below. Your MMS Max Message Size is 1048576
. Your MMS UA Prof URL is http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf
. This value is optional. I never add it. Some readers claim their MMS does not work without it.
Look up your Cellular Data Network Settings
Lookup your APN settings on the Straight Talk Support web site.
http://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/support/apn
- Enter your 10 digit phone number.
- Select Android 4.0 & 4.1 (yes – choose this option)
- Type Enter and Click / Tap Search.
Your Straight Talk APN settings are displayed on the lower left. Note, The FIELD names are not a one to one match for the fields in your phone’s APN settings.
For iOS 7:
- NAME = not used
- APN = APN (in CELLULAR DATA)
- MMS_APN = APN (in MMS)
- MMS PROXY and MMS PORT = MMS Proxy (MMS Proxy:MMS PORT)
- You may also find that the settings from Straight Talk don’t work for you. You can try the alternative values in the list below.
Don’t let this confuse you. Just remember the values and continue on.

Tony,
The iPhone 4 does not support 4G LTE. It’s a 3G phone. If you used this phone on another network and saw a 4G in the status bar, read I Updated My iPhone to Net10 & Straight Talk Carrier Update TFW 15.7 and Now My 4G Is Only 3G!

Hi Charles,
I don’t understand what you are asking..
Bought iPhone4 off my uncle that was previously activated through at&t, I want to switch the phone carrier to straight talk. I called straight talk and they sent me a new sim for the phone. I’m ready to activate but am causious as my uncle purchased an activation kit from Walmart, set phone up only to realize the internet/data didn’t work. Calling and messaging worked but not imsg. I want the phone strictly for the Internet so I don’t want to buy a 45$ card if I can’t recieve data? What am I doing wrong? Is there something in settings i could check for that i possibly have turned off HELP!
Hi Jacob,
Assuming you are using the straight talk att sim your data should work. If you update your phone to the latest version of iOS 7, data should work automatically. Obviously, I can’t speak to what problem your uncle may have had and when you sign up for straight talk, there is always some risk that you might not be able to get it to work. They don’t like to give refunds either, so you’ll spend time arguing them trying to get one.
