How to Set up Straight Talk Wireless Data and MMS on Your Nexus 5 Running Android 4.4

Getting Started

I wrote this guide to share with you how I set up my Straight Talk data/internet connection and MMS picture messaging on my Google LG Nexus 5 running Android 4.4 (KitKat). While this guide shows how I set up my Nexus 5, I would expect it would work with other phones running Android 4.x.

What This Guide Will Help You With

This guide is meant to show you, a new or existing Straight Talk Wireless customer, how to set up phone to use the Internet, MMS Picture Messages, and Group Texts. You should have a active Straight Talk AT&T network compatible or T-Mobile network compatible SIM already to insert into your Nexus 5.

What This Guide Will Not Help You With

If you are unable to make or receive voice calls or send/receive SMS text messages this guide will not fix those problems.

If You Are Looking for..

If you were searching the Internet for Straight Talk Wireless, Nexus 5, APN, MMS APN, MMS Proxy, MMSC, tfdata, wap.tracfone, att.mvno, mms.tracfone.com, http://mms-tf.met, http://mmsc.cingular.com, 66.209.11.33, 66.209.11.32 or 216.155.165.40, then this is probably site you are searching for. Don’t worry if you don’t know what any of those terms mean. This guide will show you step-by-step what do to.

Phone and SIM information

My phone is Google Nexus 5 (Black 32 GB) that I ordered from directly from Google Play. The phone is carrier unlocked so it can be used on either the ATT or T-Mobile network. My phone is running Android 4.4.

I have an activated Straight Talk Wireless Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) ATT network-compatible micro SIM. I ordered my SIM directly from the Straight Talk Wireless so that I would get one of the new 4G LTE compatible SIMs that are now available.
