Keeping Tracfone Triple Minutes When You Change Phones

Recently a number of people have asked me if you get to keep Tracfone 3X or triple minutes when they switch to a new phone.

The answer is no, but read on for more details. In the past Tracfone offered double and triple minute plans, but over the last year or so they have stopped offering these plans. Triple minutes were for the life of the phone, and when you switch phones you are no longer eligible. To be clear though, if you transfer your service and stay on the fixed minute plans, all your minutes, including those bonus minutes will transfer. What I am saying here is that you will lose the ability to add triple minute plans in the future.

If this is the case for you, consider loading up your phone before you transfer to your new phone. Also if your phone is eligible for the $50 One Year of service days , consider adding that too if it makes sense for you. Add 1 Year of Service to Your Tracfone Account.

I’ll add that I hear from some people that say they switched to a new phone and “still had triple minutes”, so its possible that they really didn’t lose the option or they haven’t really added a plan and verified they received triple minutes. Sometimes it’s hard to predict what will happen with Tracfone. Even Tracfone customer service representatives provide different answers to many questions.

I suspect many people are going to have this question as many Tracfone customers will need to upgrade their phones in 2020 as Verizon is shutting down their CDMA service meaning some of the older phones will not longer work.

What about you? Did you change phones and keep or loose the option for Triple minute plans? Leave a reply below and share.

Changed phone last year when TF told no more support for one I had. Kept triple mins plan because it was part of original sale.

      Thanks for the comment.
when you say you kept triple minutes. Do you mean you have since bought a new plan and received triple minutes with it or are you saying your previous triple minutes did not go away? Also what did you get for an new phone?
