No SIM Message on Straight Talk Sprint Network Using BYOP Samsung Galaxy S4

A reader, Cynthia asks…

hi,
i recently bought a galaxy 4 sprint phone on craig’s list,my carrier is straight talk…my phone was activated by them after i was told to take out the sim card.the phone has no sim card and works perfectly fine but it says at the top of the phone no sim card, is there any way to get rid of that message? thank you for your time…..cindy

Hi Cindy,
I am not sure what you can do about this. I’d check in Settings  under Wireless Networks > More and see if there was an option for whether the SIM is in use. If it were me, I might try putting the old SIM that was in the phone back in and leaving it there if everything works ok. You might be able to buy a blank or dummy SIM card and stick it in there. Let me know if you want to do that and I see if I can find one for sale on eBay.

Regards
Bob

I also called Sprint and verizon and was told that they also have to have a sim card for the 4g to work. I talked to customer service at straight talk.

      Hi Norberto
Straight Talk uses SIMs for their Verizon network. I haven’t seen a SIM for their Sprint network.
