Straight Talk Verizon SIM Card

To sign up for the Straight Talk Verizon network check if your phone will work with the Straight Talk Verizon Network and order a CDMA LTE Activation Kit. Review the steps below and you can then complete them on the Straight Talk Web site.

1. Verify Your Phone Works With The Program
To check if you can use Straight Talk’s Verizon network enter your Zip Code and your phone’s MEI/MEID/ESN into the web site. Straight Talk uses the Zip code to make sure they have Verizon service in that area so use the Zip Code for the area you use your phone most. Straight Talk checks your phone’s IMEI/MEID/ESN to make sure Verizon will let them register your phone on the network if Verizon service is available in your area. IMEI/MEID/ESN is just fancy technical talk for your phone’s serial number. Dial *#06* and your phone’s IMEI should appear on the screen. Not all phone’s can be registered on the network and you need to know the exact IMEI from your specific phone. Your phone’s IMEI is a long number make sure you entered it carefully into the website. If the website tells you your phone is not compatible or returns an error, check again. Sometimes the website has problems. If your phone is compatible, stop at this point. Rather than follow the rest of the steps on the Straight Talk website right now. I recommend you order your Kit from the web site and then sign up after it arrives.

2. Order CDMA LTE Activation Kit
Use the link below to order a CDMA LTE Activation Kit. The kit contains all three size SIM cards so you’ll have the right size one for your phone. It also contains a Network Access Code that is used to register your phone on Straight Talk’s network.

3. Choose the Kit Only or the Kit with a Monthly Plan
If you are a new Straight Talk customer you can order the CDMA LTE Activation Kit only or order the CDMA LTE Activation Kit with a Monthly Plan. If you are a new Straight Talk customer, you’ll need a Monthly plan when you sign up so buy the Kit with either the $45, $55, or $60 Monthly plan. Most people choose the $45 plan. Inhave the Straight talk LG Stylo 5 and need just the SIM card activation not the one with the plan and all I can seem to find in store is a SIM kit for an i phone …..my phone is not an iphone but was wanting to know if I could still purchase that kit and it work in n my LG stylo5 ??

  2. melissa | |

i bought a used straight talk iphone, I also bought the sim kit with the 3 different network sims, but I don’t know which network sim to use. How do I find out?

    • Bob Thompson | |

Most Straight Talk iPhones are sold with a Verizon SIM
In my experience, you can also use the AT&T SIM as well
If you want to use the Verizon SIM, you’ll need to check the MEID for elibilbilty when you activate
Do tyou know if AT&T or Verizon works better where you live?

  3. Daria Turner | |

I don’t know which network to use

    • Bob Thompson | |

Choose the network that works best where you use your phone most and that is compatible with your phone. Which network do your friends, family, or colleagues use?

I recently tried to switch a Verizon unlocked phone from ST’s BYOP CDMA plan to their BYOP GSM plan. My internet is super glitchy. I was finally told that I couldn’t do that. While my phone is unlocked, it is apparently only useable on other CDMA carriers. I was only told this by the third operator I talked to, however, so I’m a bit distrusting. Is this really the case in your experience? Can anybody confirm this for me?

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Amanda,
It depends on your phone. Most Verizon iPhones are fully compatible with Straight Talk’s AT&T or T’Mobile networks. However some android phones are fully compatible, other partially compatible, and others not compatible at all. what phone do you have? Do you want to move to their AT&T or T-Mobile towers. Finally, which ST Plan are you using?

What service would be best for Weldona, Colorado 80653

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Mary,
I don’t know as I live near boston. Ask your family, friends, neighbors, or coworkers whether they use AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint and how good the coverage is for them. In some areas more one of these have really good coverage but in other areas one might clearly be a better choice. Then you can use that information to find a prepaid service that uses that network. Do you already have a phone.

Just purchased an LG v30+ off walmart website unlocked not a straight talk phone. But unlocked gsm and cdma. My current phone has same size sim it will requires could I possibly just switch it on arrival? Do u know the comparability of said device?

I need to get a sim for a lg flip phone from straight talk. The sun was saying no longer able to use. What can I do.

    • Bob Thompson | |

Without knowing what model phone you have, I couldn’t answer that. Given that Straight Talk’s plans are oriented for smartphones, why would you want to pay $35 to $55 dollars to use Straight Talk with a phone with limited or no data capabilities. Why not just upgrade to and inexpensive smartphone. You’d enjoy having a nice camera with you.

I have a straight talk Galaxy Grand Prime I need to transfer my number and balance to a straight talk Apple Iphone 5s that I got from my daughter to use. She kept her sim card. I need to get a new sim card but I have no idea which one to get or what “network” I use. I go to walmart and buy the service plan every month but have no idea what “network” I use. Please advise me on which sim card to get and which “network” I use.

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Melissa
Straight Talk offers service on three different networks. When you sign up your phone will use either the AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile towers. When you bought your Grand Prime, Straight Talk decided which network or towers you would use. Same for that iPhone 5s your daughter bought. The first step is to figure out which network or towers you and your daughter use (if she is still using that same SIM card). The easiest way to do that is to ask Straight Talk using online chat.

Visit https://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/support/contactus click Chat and ask…
Hi, My family has two phones using Straight Talk? Our phone numbers are XXX XXX-XXXX and YYY YYY-YYYY. Can you tell me if my phone uses the AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile towers?

How much do you pay for Straight Talk? and do you know how much data you use. You may be able to use that phone and which to a different tracfone brand for less mone. Straight Talk and many other prepaid carriers are all owned by tracfone, in some cases you can get a much less expensive plan with the same or better service.

I bought a Google pixel straight from Google store, which SIM card should I use?

  10. DW | |

I have an unlocked LG G5 North American variant that can supposedly use a Verizon, T-Mobile, or AT&T service. It can basically use any service. Do I get to pick which SIM to use? Which one should I choose? Should or could I use the one with the best service? Would Verizon be the best for coverage?

    • Bob Thompson | |

If you want to use you G5 with the Straight Talk Verizon network you need to check that the phone is eligible. See Checking If Your iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S Is Compatible With Straight Talk’s Verizon Network.

You should pick the network that has the best coverage where you use your phone most. Some areas have better coverage with one carrier than the other. What do people use in your area? ATT, Verizon, or T-Mobile? You can try looking at coverage maps but I find it best to ask friends, neigbors, family, or co-workers what they use and if they have coverage problems in your area.

I have a unlocked samsumg galaxy s8 and bought a straight talk sim card kit. How do i pick between the 3 (at&t, tmobile, and verizon) sim cards?

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Chilly,
sorry I missed this. Choose the network that works best in your area. I prefer AT&T, many prefer Verizon. If your choice is T-Mobile or Verizon also check out Total Wireless and Simple Mobile to see if the plans better fit your needs. All three are owned by Tracfone.

I have straight talk for the last 2 years, and my SIM card started saying that it was not readable and to contact my service provider. So, I was trying to figure out why, or how I could get a new one. I went to this website and it is saying my phone number doesn’t exist. Please, help me.

I bout a straight talk phone from a friend and I need a straight talk Sims I went and bought the kit but it keep telling me no Sims so they said I need a straight talk one I called straight talk and order one but it has not got here and it’s been over a week

    • Bob Thompson | |

I am not sure there is a question there, but if you ordered a SIM you should have a confirmation number or email. You can always order another one directly online for $1.

  14. Richard | |

That was very helpful but my phone still does not work

    • Bob Thompson | |

If you elaborate, I may be able to suggest something that will help with the problem.

I have a Verizon iPhone 5c that is fully paid for and not locked into a contract (currently coasting on an expired contract grandfathered for unlimited data). I checked eligibility on ST’s website, it said all good. I ordered the sim and it never came. Called ST, they said they fixed it, it never came. Called again, they said they fixed it again, it never came. Called again, they said I need to call Verizon to make sure my iPhone can actually be used because their system says something is wrong. I just ordered another sim card (didn’t pay this time, registered instead). Any insight into this mess?

    • Bob Thompson | |

x I replied to you privately through email.

  16. Missy | |

I am already a straight talk customer my question is a friend gave me their iphone 6s and they are with t-mobile. The iphone is unlocked so can I put an AT&T SIM card in the iphone? I get good service off the AT&T network where I live

  17. Carolyn | |

I spoke to an Apple Genius yesterday and they agreed that it’s best to buy “factory unlocked” from Apple and then use Straighttalk. The other unlocks are never truly right. The internet supports this view also. I want to use it in traveling and this is the better way to go. Also one can switch carriers. I was thinking I was having problems with my old iPhone 4 due to Straightalk but it just my iPhone wearing out after 51/2 years. I changed my sTaightalk to a cheap $19.95 cell phone until I can get delivery of my new iPhone SE.

You should see if STaightalk would link to your site. They don’t have anyway of emailing them with questions. Thanks once again for the great information.

    • Bob Thompson | |

You are welcome. Thank for the kind words. I picked up a new iPhone SE on Thursday at the store. Will have some videos soon.
Buying an iPhone from Straight Talk does have some advantages for some people, but I do prefer to buy mine SIM free from Apple too.

I was told a while ago that some ST support people were sending people to smartphonematters.com for help in the past. They have phone support, online chat, and do support on facebook as well.

Did you get Rose Gold 🙂

  18. Carolyn | |

I am going to get the new iPhone SE and Apple says the nana sims will work. I’ll let you know. Verizon has a better tower rating in this area so that is why I was selecting Verizon. I have Straight Talk now on my iPhone 4 and have had no problems with service for three years. Your site was very helpful!

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Carolyn,
It should work. Order the SIM free phone. I was going to do an article on the SE. i think the iPhone SE is going to be a winner for Straight Talk and other prepaid wireless plans because for $400 you can get a brand new iPhone from Apple that supports most of the same features of the iPhone 6s. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I am glad the article was helpful and let me know how it goes for you.

  19. Carolyn | |

When you get a new iPhone from Apple do you buy unlocked or Verizon?

    • Bob Thompson | |

If you want to use the Straight Talk Verizon network and you want an iPhone 6s I’d say go with the SIM free model. That is what they called the unlocked phone. I haven’t registered one myself on the Verizon network, but readers have been saying it works. They are the same phone really. I did check the IMEI of my SIM free iPhone 6 which I bought from the Apple Store and it is compatible. I didn’t register it though.

If ATT has decent service in your area using the ST ATT network is a better choice because data speeds are not limited to 5mb like they are on ST’s Verizon network
