Problems with Straight Talk Wireless’ Verizon Network

Having problems with your prepaid phone service using Straight Talk’s Verizon network? You are not alone. Many readers ask me for help getting their data to work when they first sign up, when their data suddenly stops working, or their high speed data does not return after the start of a new monthly service plan.

Hey,
In 2020, you have a lot of choices for prepaid wireless service. You may be able to save $100s per year and get the features you want such as Wi-Fi calling, Mobile Hotspot, and Visual Voicemail. Sound good? to learn more see, Is Straight Talk Your Best Option in 2020?

Unfortunately, there isn’t really a simply solution for this problem. Here are a few recommendations.

iPhone

If you just signed up for Straight Talk Wireless and your cellular data isn’t working you may need to set the APN. To do this you’ll need to install what’s called an APN profile. Using the Safari web browser on your iPhone, visit http://ivzwentp.tracfone.com and install the profile.

If you have an older profile installed, you will not be able to install a new one. See my article below to learn how to remove the old one.

Android

If your data isn’t working the problem may be your APN. Your Android phone should automatically set up the APN when you put the SIM card in your phone. In most cases the APN settings on your phone will be hidden so you will not be able to view or change them. If you can see your APN settings you may want to check to see if they match the ones below.

Call Straight Talk’s Executive Resolution department

If the suggestions above did not help you’ll need to call Straight Talk support. Sometimes the problem is not your phone but their systems. It seems as if sometimes they need to reregister your phone on the Straight Talk’s Verizon network. Some readers have reported having to do this every four to six weeks.

I recommend calling executive resolution which seems to be more effective then regular support. The number is (800) 876-5753 ext 3324. The email is ST.CorpResolutionTeam@straighttalk.com.

Switch to the Straight Talk AT&T Network

Straight Talk uses four different networks. In my experience, the their AT&T and T-Mobile networks are more reliable. If the AT&T or T-Mobile networks work well in your area consider switching to one of these networks. Generally I don’t hear about as many problems with these networks and as an added benefit the high speed data is often faster.

Switch To A Different Wireless Company

If you are still having problems after trying to fix the problem yourself and giving Straight Talk the chance to fix it for you, it’s time to consider your other options for wireless service.

If the Verizon network is the only wireless network that works well in your area, consider Verizon Wireless prepaid service. They offer a $45 plan with 3GB of high speed data when you sign up for autopay. While this is less data for the money than you get with Straight Talk, having more data doesn’t help if you are constantly having problems with your service. A number of readers that have switched report they are happy and problem free.
