I brought a Samsung A50 at Walmart & it does not work. I’ve had several Straight Talk managers try to help me get it to where I can make calls. Nothing happens!!! I call someone & then it drops the call immediately. Walmart will not let me exchange it or give me back my money…..$299 + tax. I need another phone really bad, but don’t know how to go about getting Straight Talk to help me. What can I do?

You could stop by the electronics department of the Walmart where you bought your phone and maybe the “phone guy” there would be willing to take a look at it. you should also ask Straight Talk which towers your phone is using.
The easily way is do this over online chat. Tell them your phone number and ask which towers your phone uses. The answer will likely be Verizon but it could be AT&T. you can find the chat link here. https://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/support/contactus

You need to figure out if the problem is your phone, as specific problem with Straight Talk, or just poor reception in your area. Did you buy this phone and transfer existing Straight Talk service or sign up for new service?

I am having an issue with my ST IPhone 6 I have traveled from Texas to Clovis NM and when in NM I loose data for all the time I am in NM then when I travel back to Texas I have data again. I have a company phone(At&t) and never loose data so I know the system is there, Straight Talk tech support has not been any help. I have been with ST for 5 plus years and traveled all over the nation and never had any issues.

    Any Ideas

      Steve,
You didn’t mention which ST network you are using. I’m assuming ATT. Ask around in Clovis if people are using AT&T. It may be that ATT has poor coverage there and the reason that your company ATT phone works well there is because ATT has an agreement with a local wireless company to carry their traffic. Unfortunately, these agreements usually do not apply to prepaid wireless service.

If you think the issue is your phone, try swapping the SIMS between the two phones and see if the iPhone 6 works with att and the company phone doesn’t work well with ST.

I have recently bought an iPhone 6s from Walmart. I transferred my number from another ST byop. I can send and receive texts and such but I cannot get my data to work. I cant update the APN settings.

    Hello,

I have an iPhone 5 with the iOS 9.02. Recently, my phone will randomly loose it’s data connection and I cannot use my internet unless I have wifi. I can send and receive texts and phone calls, but cannot send or receive iMessages or use my internet.

I have called the customer support center multiple times, including yesterday morning. They keep saying they just need to update my account and then it works for a few days, sometimes a week or two, and then doesn it again.

I don’t know how to to fix it, and I use a Verizon phone through the bring your own phone with straight talk.

I haven’t had any problems with my phones data not working until just recently, when I went out of town. Once I got about 100 miles out my data completely stopped working. I tried downloading some apn profiles but no luck. I have an iPhone five and I’m pretty sure I’m using an att sim card

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi Sabrina,
The problem is more likely your location. Did you travel into a rural area? Do you know does ATT work in that area? Ask people where you are what network they use.
Installing APNs won’t fix the problem. I’d remove the APN profiles and reset the phone again.

BTW.. I have traveled both the east and west coast without losing my data (ST att). The only place it didn’t work was in upstate new york. It seems verizon didn’t work to well there either.
      Regards
      Bob

I am having the same issue. Receiving MMS worked fine last Saturday. All of a sudden I am not able to receive MMS/Text group messages anymore. I can still send them and everyone sees them but I cannot receive them.

I have tried everything and nothing works. This seems to be a recent problem. I am on straighttalk BYOP and iOS 8.3 on an iPhone 6.

Does this issue have to do with ST upgrading BYOP users to 5GB data now?

  9. Dan R | |

Hi Bob, I have an iPhone 6 with iOS 8.3 on Straight Talk with a BYOD device purchased from the Apple store. I can send MMS messages, but I can’t receive them. I have updated the APN settings several times using the most current settings I could find with the sim swap method. Unfortunately, still no success. I am having no trouble accessing the internet on the network. Any suggestions on settings to receive MMS are very much appreciated. My next step will be to purchase and active on a new sim and if that fails, use a different service.

    Thank you,

    Dan

      Hi Dan,
The SIM swap doesn’t work since iOS 7.1. Try following this.
Help with Straight Talk APN for iPhone

Not receiving MMS is a common problem. If you recently signed up for Straight Talk and transferred your phone number it may take a few days before you can receive MMS picture messages. I had the same issue. I set up three Straight Talk accounts. MMS worked fine for the two with new phone numbers. I could not receive MMS for the third, the one I transferred a number to. I tried the SIM in two different phone and it did not work. After a few days I decided to see if I could try to fix it, only to find it working.

Let me know how it goes.
      Regards
      Bob

      Hey Dan,

I am having the exact same issue. It just started this week. Have you found a fix. Up to now everything was fine. I have had ST for 2 years now.

      • Bob Thompson | |

        Hi Kai,
I don’t think it has anything to do with the 5GB upgrade. Are you using the Straight Talk ATT or TMobile SIM?

        • Kai | |

I am using the AT&T Sim. There are some other people on the straighttalk forum reporting the same issue. Since the announcement receiving mms is not working. Maybe we have to wait until the next cycle.

I bought a iphone through ebay and it is att compatible. They are in the process of activating my phone and letting me keep my number. My question or problem is how do I set up the apn settings because I have a gsm phone or change the settings

    • Bob Thompson | |

      Hi barbara,
If your iphone is running iOS 7 or later, and you are using the straight talk Att sim, it should just work. Tjhe apn should set up automatically.
      Regards
      Bob

Also, when I connect to wifi to type in the links to get the apn profiles it says that safari cannot open page. Please help!!! Thanks

Hi Bob, a while back you helped me set up my iphone 4 with the straight talk SIM card kit. Since then my phone has been trouble free even with iOS upgrade.I get a great signal here in the middle of Virginia and at $45.00 a month you can’t beat the price. My talk, text and internet all work perfect so thanks again for all your help, Jesse
