Setting up Straight Talk Wireless tfdata APN on Your iPhone

Introduction

The article is part of a series of articles that explain how to set up your Straight Talk APN on the iPhone. If you not sure what your APN is or which Straight Talk network you are using, see Setting up Straight Talk Wireless APN for Cellular Data, Internet, MMS Picture Messages on Your iPhone Using iOS 8.

My APN is tfdata

If your APN is tfdata, your iPhone sets the APN automatically when you insert your SIM. You should be able use your cellular data connection to access the Internet and send and receive MMS picture messages and group texts without having to set anything.

Try Using Cellular Data, MMS Picture Messages, and Group Text Messages

After setting your APN, try to:

  • access the Internet using cellular data
  • send and receive an MMS picture message
  • send and receive a group text message

If you need more details or instructions to check this, or you did but your cellular data, MMS, or group texts still do not work, see Verifying Your iPhone’s Cellular Data Connection, MMS Picture Messages, and Group Text Messages.

I am using an AT&T iPhone 4. I’m jailbroken, but am unable to access my Network Settings to change my APN. I do not have a T-Mobile SIM card to attempt the swap trick. Are there any ways around this?

The SIM swap does not work with iOS 7.02 or later. If you phone is jailbroken, you’d need to install an app to access the APN settings, I think it’s called comm center patch, not sure though. If you install the latest verison of iOS you phone supports your APN should be set automatically. If you can’t do any of this, you can install an APN profile, that should set the APN for data, but not MMS. See Straight Talk APN Profiles
