The guide shows step-by-step instructions for the iPhone 6 using iOS 8.2. The guide should also work for the iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s. iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, and iPhone 4 using other versions of iOS 8 and iOS 7 as well.
Resetting Your Network Settings
To use cellular data to access the Internet, as well as send and receive MMS picture messages and group text messages, you have to set the data and MMS settings for your phone on the Cellular Data Network page in your iPhone’s Settings. Your iPhone might automatically set up the APN for you. If it’s not working you should try Resetting Your Network Settings.
- Tap Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network Settings
- Enter your PIN (Your phone will prompt you if you have one set)
- Tap Reset Network Settings
For step by step instructions, see Resetting Network Settings on Your iPhone.
Testing Your Internet and Messaging
After resetting your network settings, test Your Cellular Data, MMS Picture Messages, and Group Texts. Remember to turn off your W-Fi connection to test data. Remember to test sending and receiving MMS picture messages and group texts with people that are using phones other than the iPhone. This will ensure that the messages are using MMS and not Apple’s iMessage. For more information and details about this, see Understanding the Difference between MMS and iMessage on Your iPhone
Entering Your APN Settings Manually
If Resetting your network settings did not fix the problem, enter your APN settings manually.
