see WARNING: Straight Talk and Net10 SIM Swap with iOS 7.0.2
UPDATE: Sep 22 2013
I have an new guide How to Setup Straight Talk Wireless Data and MMS for your iPhone running iOS 7 check it out for more details.
I am working to get my Net10 guide finished as well.
A reader pointed out a consistent way to SIM swap and get into Cellular Data Network. I was having a hard time with it on iOS 7. This worked very well.
1. Put in the TMobile SIM
2. Go to Cellular Data Network with the TMobile SIM in
3. switch to the notes app.
4. insert the Net10 or ST SIM
5. wait until the iPhone recognizes the Sim
6. double tap home
7. switch to settings with CDN still open
8. enter your APN values
9. watch out because the iPhone ail change them on you
10. back out of CDN
11. restart the phone
This guys sells the whole kit for 22 bucks, including the 4G LTE ENABLED at&t sim, T-mobile sim and full instructions. They cut them to the nano sim size so it only fits iphone 5, 5S & 5C. I personally got a kit and it worked perfectly.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for sharing the link.

I read the above. I don’t understand no. 7. Do you mean to go to the Notes app from the Home page.? And no. 9. the iPhone ” ail change them on you ” What will change on me? The values I enter will automatically change as I enter them? What’s ail? Thanks you and will wait for a response soon.
Hi James,
Yes. You understand. Did you just read this post or my entire guide?

The guide shows how to do this step by step.

Hi Marlene,
The TFW may just be a part of iOS 7.0.3 or possible the network carrier update. I haven’t taken the tie to upgrade yet. If your data or MMS aren’t working anymore but follow the guide and set it up again. You should be fine. I’ll post to smartphonematters.com after I update.

Jose,
Are you using T-Mobile or a Straight Talk T-Mobile SIM? If you are using any T-Mobile network sim, you don’t need to SIM swap. You should see the Cellular Data Network option in settings? Is this the case? Also, I am not very experienced with the GPP SIM unlock, make sure that the one you have supports the version of iOS 7 you are using…
Regards
Bob
unlockit.nz should allow you to send text and use data with the straighttalk or net 20 service. It has to be downloaded to the device so you will need a wireless connection.
Hi pj,
Unlockit will not fix mms.

Bob
If you have Straight Talk and ios 7 the this video might be very helpful. I used it for mine. The guy is really easy to follow. It will probably work for net 10 too as long as you know what your setting need to be. Hope it helps. http://youtu.be/gmRSDDJbOUQ
Thank you so much! Finally fixed my iphone 4, you’re the best thanks again.
Hi joe,
Glad to hear your phone is working.

Bob
I finally succeeded in getting my iPhone 5 working on Net10 cellular data with these three important steps:
#1
After you put in the T-Mobile SIM. Go the Cellular Data Network. Tap Home, Tap the Notes app in the home screen. Now remove the T-Mobile SIM with the Notes app still open. Put your ST or Net10 SIM back in. Wait until that status bar changes from No Sim to searching to Home. Now, double tap the Home button and tap settings. Setting will still have the CDN open. It’s just the trick to get into CDN after putting your SIM back in the phone. Then you type in the new APN settings.
#2
Here are the APN settings I used that worked for my iPhone 5 on iOS 7:
>>Cellular Data
APN: tfdata
>>MMS
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com:80
MMS Max Message Size: 1048576
#3
DO NOT SCROLL DOWN AFTER PUTTING IN YOUR LAST SETTING.- Scrolling down this far reverts back to “phone” in the data and mms areas of the menu and re-loads the bad settings. After filling out the MMS UA Prof URL you may have to scroll back to the top and make sure the correct setting is still in data.
Thanks for all the posts on this page that helped me, and I hope that my post will be of assistance to others, also!
Hey stallm50,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. All of the points made are valid and I think are covered in my guide too. Readers should pay extra attention to #3 that one can try you crazy..
Regards
Bob
Thank you, Bob! I appreciate your website and all the wonderful help you and your readers have provided to me!
Can u use this on iPhone 3GS using 6.1.3 version? I have data just not mms. When I go to cellular data, it doesn’t give me the option to go to cellular data network to change anything. Any ideas on getting mms?
Hi Jamie,
Yes.

What is the notes app?
Hi shannon,
Look at the screenshots in the guide. Its an app that comes installed on your iPhone as part of iOS 7.

Bob
All this did was tell me the exact same thing I already knew. I have been fighting with this since day one of iOS 7. I am using a iphone 4 unlocked AT&T with iOS 7 on net 10.
Hi Erica,
If you are having a problem getting your phone to work maybe I can help you. Its not clear to me from your comment if you followed instructions or not and whether you are having a problem.
Let me know if you want some help.

Bob
I’ve called sprint an ask for them to unlock my phone for international traveling and they said they don’t do that anymore! They have international plans where you don’t roam! Ugh I need help on unlocking from sprint bad. When I google the gpp sim they don’t have for the iOS 7.
Hi jamesha,
I am not sure what else to tell you. You can call sprint again and try with a different rep you might get lucky. Tell them you will be travelling in Asia and you cannot rely on roaming. Tell them you need to be able to make calls using a local number. It might work. Also I think the GPP unlock will eventually work on iOS 7. they just need the time to get it working.
Other then that, you can try to sell your iphone and buy a used att unlocked phone. Finally, you could check and see if you can move you iphone to virgin mobile there prepaid has good prices, run on the sprint network, and they are even owned by sprint.
Regards,
Bob
It’s called Neter Nano sim. Best thing to happen since milk.
Hey Michael,
Awesome. I love when the commenters help out each other.
Regards
Bob
Do it matter if I have sprint or not I went to a store and they say I can’t unlock it because sprint has something set up to where you can’t unlock it!
Ok I have a iPhone 4S with sprint they won’t unlock the phone so I need to find a way to unlock it and transfer to straight talk! Can you help?
Hi Jamesha,
you can ask them to SIM unlock your iPhone for international use. You might get lucky. You can also google or ebay search for something called a GPP SIM adapter. Some of my readers have used them and say they work. I have never tried one myself. Read carefully because sometimes they say they only work with specific versions of iOS.
Let me know how it goes.
Regards
Bob
Just an FYI, the Gpp sim works awesome, right now for ios 7 were messing around with new software some of us have it working with no problems and others are having some issues, but from 5.1.1 to 6.1.3/4 not a single problem, perfectly compatible with updates, and only the Gpp sim doesn’t require a jailbreak I believe the gevey and the ultra r-sim require a jb
Hi Chris,
thanks for sharing your experience with GPP. I am starting to get a lot of questions about Sprint iPhones these days and this info helps.
Regards
Bob
Hi Chris,
Do you still sell GPP devices? Do you have a link to your store or what service you offer?
Regards
Bob
Jamesha, do you not have a Gpp sim? If not you should definitely get one, I sell and program them for people in my area, also I use a sprint 4s on AT&T go and a iPhone 5 on straight talk

I followed the instructions for the sim swap on my iPhone 4 with iOS 7 and after a couple of tries, it worked. It was resetting the values if I scrolled too far one way or the other, but after verifying they were correct and restarting the phone, I was able to send mms pictures messages to non iPhone users. Thanks for the help!
Hey just wanted to let everyone know. I have a straight talk iphone AT&T I updated to ios 7 and the apn att.mvno did not work for me. I just used this Here are the APN settings I used that worked for me on iOS7.
>>Cellular Data
APN: tfdata
>>MMS
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com:80
MMS Max Message Size: 1048576
AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING GREAT NOW!!!!!!
Hey Kyle,
Glad to hear you are working again. Looks like Net 10 and Straight Talk users are going to survive the iOS 7 update with data and mms intact.
Regards
Bob
Ok so this is the new apn setting we are to use ?
Hi Sheniquia,
I am not sure what state you are in right now. Is you data working? If so which APN? Are you still having trouble with MMS?
Regards
Bob
SC yep my data works great
I was using the att.mvno apn
I have not try to fix my mms
I got it working thanks
Hey now I am get a message saying can’t certify server identity safari can’t verify the identity of a. Dicdn.com would you like to continue anyway
That sounds more like a problem with the web site you are looking at. If you try https://dicdn.com, do you get the same error?
Regards
Bob
I got my pix working but that pop up this morning I keep trying my internet all day today and it didn’t come back up what should I do if it does
Thanks Kyle. Those settings worked for me. I got data and text capability back. Only thing missing now is MMS. I can’t send a picture via TXT. The send bar goes 90% across and hangs on the last 10%. Never does send.
I have iPhone 4S @ iOs7.0
I used an international SIM, cut down to micro size to trip the iPhone into the Cellular menu/APN options instead of a T-Mobile or NET10 SIM (worked the same). You just can’t use an AT&T SIM to get into that menu option.
Forgot to mention, I am on Straight Talk. Phones were working fine on iOs6.3, then my daughter thought she would “help” us all out and “upgraded” us ALL to iOs7.0
We lost text, data, and MMS.
Our phones are NOT unlocked and NOT jailbroken. They are originally AT&T iPhones that still have time left on the original contract (reason why AT&T will not unlock them). But they work fine on Straight Talk now that I have changed the APN settings with the SIM card swap trick.
Hey Chili,
Do you need help? Your Data is working? but not MMS? Lookin the guide for alternative MMS settings that match your APN.

Let me know how it goes.

Where do you get the T mobil sim card?
Hi Michelle,
Read my Net10 FAQ it applies to Straight Talk as well. Net10 Data, Internet and MMS APN Frequently Asked Questions

I lost my data and MMS with the IOS 7 update. After a little work I just got it restored. My iPhone is an unlocked ATT iPhone 4 with StraightTalk sim ad was running IOS 6 something. what ever the latest was.
I tried the sim swap method several times using the guide method that had worked well on IOS 6. After about 20 failed attempts I came back here to check for any updates and found the reference to using the Notes App above and gave it a try. As mentioned the info that I entered kept trying to switch back but I got it to work on the second try.
Thanks again for the amazing help and community here!
And I did use the
Sorry about that unfinished sentence.
I did use the att.mvno profile.
does the iphone have to be “unlocked”/jailbroken for this to work? will this work when phone is on 3g?
iphone 4 at&t/straight talk…
Hi countryprices,
You iPhone does not need to be jailbroken
My iPhone was unlocked, so it worked for me. You can get data to work with a locked ATT phone. Some readers claim your phone must be unlocked to set up MMS, other say no.
Many readers have reported that it works on their 3gs running iOS 6.
Hi wrote a guide for How to Setup Straight Talk Wireless Data and MMS for your iPhone running iOS 6 check it out.
If you have an iPhone 3g it is running iOS 4 or iOS 5 I think so I am nost sure.
It will work for the iPhone 4.
Regards
Bob
Cliff,
This is great news. I had the same experience too. I got the Swap to work but it was painful. I have a new guide on the site for iOS 7 so hopefullt people will start using that one.
Best Regards
Bob
On IOS7 Internet Tethering is now “PERSONAL HOTSPOT” DO NOT SCROLL DOWN AFTER PUTTING IN YOUR LAST SETTING.- Scrolling down this far reverts back to “phone” in the data and mms areas of the menu and re-loads the bad settings. After filling out the MMS UA Prof URL you may have to scroll back to the top and make sure the correct setting is still in data.
Also the mms settings you listed are for newer ATT compatible ST sims, older sims have different mms settings. I used the settings that I had before which were different from yours and they worked.
Hi Ace,
Yes. your are correct. The more you scroll, the more it changes values. I have all the settings for Net10 and Straight Talk in my iOS6 guides. I am working on the iOS7 guide but posted this because people were looking for an update.
Regards
Bob
This worked for me just now on iOS7 using my AT&T iPhone 4S and doing the T-Mobile SIM card swap method you suggested with NOTES app. Thank YOU! Tested mms text (picture) and it sent fine as well.
Here are the APN settings I used that worked for me on iOS7.
>>Cellular Data
APN: tfdata
>>MMS
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com:80
MMS Max Message Size: 1048576
Matt,
Thanks for sharing thee values that worked for you.
Regards
Bob
Bob can I use that on the iPhone 4 AT&T phone I got using straight talk
Hi
You can try it but I don’t think it will work. I think your APN is att.mvno. But go ahead an try it. straight talk was converting people over to tfdata a while ago.
maybe it will work for you.
Bob
youre the effing man!!!
Rock on Jesse!
Bob
Matt,
I am glad to hear it is working.
Regards
Bob
I saw on YouTube some one said
idomskt16 minutes ago
Try this one and let me know if it worked for you or not, if not, I may have something else for you Cellular APN : tfdata Use APN tfdata for both…Cellular and MMS I will use * for dot Use MMSC info after h t t p : / / mms-tf*net MMSc proxy use mms3*tracfone* com followed by colon 80 Use standard Max msg size 1048576
I AT&T.mvno will not work anymore
Can you explain the “notes” app. Please. I’m still having a little trouble trying to get data and mms on my iphone5.
Hi Kim,
Sure. after you put in the T-Mobile SIM.
Get it?
Regards
Bob
Since I’ve always used the “Notes” method on my Iphone 5, I didn’t realize it was nearly mandatory on IOS 7. I’m just confirming it does work with Data, MMS etc. It also survives a reboot.
Many moons ago, I saw several people suggest turning Airplane mode on/off after making the changes and before a reboot. I don’t know if it helps, but it doesn’t hurt!
Hi Steve,
thanks for commenting. I wish I knew about the Notes method earlier. I never had a problem swapping on iOS6 once I learned how. Many other readers did.
Glad to hear you are working.
Regards
Bob
Follow the original procedure but before you do open the notes app. Procede with the normal procedure, input your APN settings, make sure they are right, then switch to the notes app. and trade sim cards.
This worked for me.

I did the sim swap on ios6 and everything worked fine. I did it on ios7 and my internet works, but my mms don’t. I have AT&T on a iPhone 4S.
Hi Roy,
I have SIM swapped a few times now and have it working. One thing I had to watch for was the iPhone kept changing both of my APN values and my MMS proxy while I was entering in the values on that page. It’s possible you have you data apn correct but the MMS values change on you. Also make sure you remove any APN profiles you may have installed.
Regards
Bob
