Service Add-Ons

Total Wireless offers two different service add-ons that can be purchased seperately.

Add-On Data

Total Wireless offers a $10 5GB Data add-on. If you use up your high speed data during the month, you can add additional data. At $10 for 5 GB, the price is $2 per 1GB of data. That’s the best price I’ve seen for add-on data. Even better, your add-on data never expires as long as your phone remains active.

$10 Global Calling

Total Wireless offers a $10 Global calling credit for international calling and texts. Add the credit to your account and you’ll be able to make international calls for as low as 1 cent per minute. Check the website to see the list of countries you can call and for details on the rate per minute. Also, check to see if you can call land line, mobile phones, or both in the countries you want to call depending on your needs.

The calling balance carries over to the next month of service. It’s not clear whether they mean in carriers over for one month or indefinitely from month to month with active service.

Visual Voicemail

Total Wireless offers regular voicemail, but does not guarantee support for Visual Voicemail. When you sign up you might find that your phone is able to use visual voicemail but it isn’t guaranteed. When I reviewed Total Wireless in 2018 I was able to use Visual Voicemail with my verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 but not my iPhone 6s.

Mobile Hotspot

Total Wireless does not include Mobile Hotspot. Mobile Hotspot lets you connect your laptop, tablet, or other Wi-Fi device to the internet using your phone’s cellular data connection.

Wi-Fi Calling

Total Wireless does not include Wi-Fi Calling. Wi-Fi calling lets you to make and receive calls and send and receive texts using your active Wi-Fi connection rather than the cellular network. With Wi-Fi calling you’ll have phone service when are in a place with poor on no cellular signal but you do have Wi-Fi.

Considerations

Total Wireless is a compelling choice for customers customers that want to use the verizon network but do not require unlimited data. Their fixed price plans are competitive and offer a lot of value. They have the best add-on data rates that I have seen. However, they do not include support for network features that many customers want such as Wi-Fi calling and Hotspot.
