Upgrading to the iPhone

A reader Denzel asks..

I am thinking about finally upgrading to a better phone and service. I am deciding to buy an iPhone 4s or 5 on ebay. I want to know how can I use straight talk or net 10, but I am little confused how to get the better end of it. I just don’t know how to set up everything without any problems. I just need to upgrade my phone and wonder if I can just keep my iphone to current carrier Metropcs or just switch.

Hi Denzel,
Sure. I think I could help you out. Can you tell me a little about what phone you have now, how much you are paying per month, have you set a budget for your phone and monthly charges, and are there any special features of the iPhone that are important to you?

      Hi,
Straight Talk, Net10, and most of the other ATT MVNOs do not support Hotspot. It’s against the terms of service. You might get it working with a jailbreak. I think I read some place they actively monitor for customers using HotSpot.

    Hi Denzel,
I switched to Straightalk from AT&T. I pay less my iphone 3 uses the same service as AT&T. I can’t received or send pictures. I spent hours with Straightalk representatives and I still can’t receive or send pictures. Hopefully you will have better luck.
