Visible offers unlimited talk, text, and data for as low as $25 per month.
Today I am going to check out the Visible prepaid wireless plans and features for July 2021. I last reviewed Visible back in October 2020 seeVisible Prepaid Wireless Review – October 2020
Note that today, I’m just going to take a look at the plans and features to see what’s changed.
Visible is a prepaid wireless company owned / funded by Verizon/ Visible’s claim is that they have streamlined wireless service by offering everything you need right from your phone. Their goal is to keep things simple, reduce costs and pass savings on to you.
Network and Coverage
Visibile uses the Verizon network or towers. As Visible is owned by Verizon, this shouldn’t be a surprise. They offer service on Verizon’s 4G LTE network, and now claim you’ll have access to their 5G network as well.
Buy a Phone or BYOP
When you sign up for Visible, you’ll have the choice to buy a phone directly from Visible or Bring Your Own Phone. If you decide to buy your phone from Visible they offer a variety of iPhone, Samsung, and other Android models.
If your phone is compatible with the Verizon network, you may be able to use that phone with Visible’s BYOP SIM card. To find out if your phone is eligible, check your phone’s MEID / IMEI (serial number) on visible.com. Not all phones that are currently compatible with Verizon are eligible. Initally Visible, you only sign up for BYOP with iPhone but Visible has expanded their number of BYOP phones supported.
Visible’s $40 Unlimited Plan
To keep things simple, Visible only offers one plan that costs $40 per month. However, if you take advantage of their discounts you can lower that price to $25 per month. and that is with taxes and fees included.
Visible’s plan includes unlimited nationwide talk and text. You can also call Mexico, Canada, US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico from the US as well. Visible does not support calling when you are outside the United States.
Visible also includes unlimited nationwide text messages. You can also text the same international locations that you can call. Visible supports SMS text message, MMS Picture Messages, and MMS group text messages.
Visible’s plan also included unlimited data on Verizon’s $G LTE and 5G networks.
Visible claims that you’ll typically see download speeds between 5-12mbps and upload speeds of 2-5Mbps on their 4G LTE network. They also state that speeds om their 5G network are capped at 200 Mbps. They also claim your network speeds may be temporally slower than others “in times of traffic”.
When I last reviewed Visible, they did not make these claims about the 4G LTE network. At some times I experienced much faster speeds. But at times I also speeds in that range during times I’d expect the Verizon network to be busy.
Visible states that their customers are deprioritized when the Verizon network is busy. They don’t shared any other details. The only real way you’ll know if this will be acceptable for you is to try the service. Other than these claims Visible does not state any limits on the amount of high speed data you can use.
Voicemail & Visual Voicemail
Visual supports visual voicemail on the iPhone and select Android phones. They have regular voicemail support for phones that do not have Visual Voicemail
Visual Voicemail lets you see a list of all your voicemail messages and choose which ones to listen to or delete all from your phones screen.
When I last reviewed Visible, I was able to use Visual Voicemail on both my iPhone and my Google Pixel 3 phones. Visible states Visual Voicemail is supported on iPhone, but it may also work with your Android phone too. If your phone does not support Visual Voicemail, you’ll have regular dial in voicemail. Long press 1 on your phone to access and setup voicemail.
Visual also includes Mobile Hotspot. Mobile Hotspot lets you connect your laptop, tablet, or other Wi-Fi connected devices to the Internet using your phone’s cellular data connection.
Visible has two restrictions on their mobile hotspot. First, they claim that hotspot speeds are up to 5Mbps. Second, they also limit you to one device attached to your hotspot. Note these claims are the terms of service for your account and that they may or may not enforce them
Visible also support Wi-Fi calling on compatibile phones.
With Wi-Fi calling, your phone can make and receive phone calls as well as send and receive text messages using your Wi-Fi connection instead of the cellular network. With Wi-Fi calling you’ll be able to use your Wi-Fi connected phone in areas where you have little or no cellular network coverage.
Visible has a number of promotions.
Visibile has a referral program. Each time your referral signs up, you’ll receive a month of service for only $5 per month for up to 12 months.
It’s not clear to me from visible.com if that is for a total of twelve months or a rolling window of twelve months.
$100 Gift Card – BYOP phone and Transfer Your Number
Sign up for Visible using your own phone (BYOP) and transfer your phone number to Visible you’ll receive a $100 Gift card. You can select the gift card from a number of retailers, including Amazon.
$200 Prepaid MasterCard – Buy a Phone and Transfer Your Number
If you decide to buy a phone from Visible you can qualify for up to $200 on a Prepaid MasterCard that you can use anywhere that accepts MasterCard online.
Party Pay Discount
Visible offers a Party Pay discount. Join a party of four or more people and your monthly plan price will decrease to $25 per month. If you have less than four people in your plan, you’ll receive a $5 per month discount.
You can join a party with family, friends, collegues, or strangers from the internet. Each party member has their own account and pays their own bill You do not need to interact or even know the other people in your party. Party Pay is similarr to a Family or Multi-line plan discount, except each person needs to have an account and pay their own bill so you can’t manage multiple lines from a single account( or at least last I checked)
That’s it for my look at Visible’s current plans and features. If you are currently spending more than $25 per month for prepaid wireless service I recommend you take a look at Visible. Some of my readers and viewers have reported that they find Visible’ data speeds are slowed too often for their use, while others find the service an amazing deal. You won’t know if Visible is right for you unless you try it out.
