The Tracfone BYOP SIM kit contains SIM cards for Tracfone’s AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile towers. The SIM-Free iPhone SE from 2020 is compatible with any of the three. Choose the network that works best in your area. Using the Verizon SIM requires you provide your phones Serial number (IMEI / MEID). to make sure its eligible. Not a big deal.
If your using another model iPhone you’ll need to make sure that your iPhone is compatible with the network you want to use. Some model iPhones only work with the AT&T and T-Mobile networks while others will also work with Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile.
Once you choose your SIM card your phone will use the towers for that network until you switch carriers or transfer your service to a different SIM card.
You can transfer your number and remain service balance to your new iPhone. If you haven’t done so, create a new account on tracfone.com. Use the Activate option from the main page to transfer your service. At some point you’ll Abe asked if you want a new number or transfer your own. When you choose transfer, Tracfone will detect that you are a current customer and transfer your service from your current phone to the new one. This includes your number and service balance.
Tracfone BYOP smartphone no longer qualify for triple minutes nor are they eligible for the $50 one year service days add-on. Consider refilling your phone before you transfer your service to the new phone.
Before signing up or switching over to a tracfone smartphone plan, consider your options. In June of 2020 AT&T Prepaid, Cricket Wireless, T-Mobile, and Mint Mobile have unlimited talk text and 2GB plans for $15 per month. Depending on your need, these could be a better value.
